" IT IS ALSO CHARITY TO UTTER A GOOD WORD . PROPHET MUHAMMAD ( PEACE BE UPON HIM ) MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT I welcome you all to the Charity Walk for Peace.

Many months of planning, hundreds of man hours and the amazing support we have received from Council has today come to fruition with this historic walk, with so many charities being supported,

I am delighted that once again, like in previous years, AMEA UK is able to support all the administrative costs of the Charity Walk for Peace, thus ensuring that every single penny raised is donated directly to charity.

I truly hope you will have an amazing day and I very much look forward to seeing you all.

DR . IJAZ UR REHMAN PRESIDENT AHMADIYYA MUSLIM ELDERS ASSOCIATION MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR I welcome you all to this auspicious event today.

I am absolutely privileged and delighted to have the CWFP come to the historic borough of Runnymede this year.

We are making history in Runnymede with this event as i am proud to say that this will be the biggest charity event a mayor has ever hosted in our wonderful borough. Indeed I don't think there are many in the country that can boast an event that has a target of raising £1,000,000 for local and national charities.

We have worked tirelessly over the last 8 months to try and bring this walk to this historic borough and to also have the walk in one of the most picturesque areas of the country.

I think it is extremely significant and fitting that the walk for Peace be held in this wonderful borough where the Magna Carta was sealed over 800 years ago and where I am proud to serve as mayor.

I actively welcome charities from Runnymede, and around the uk to be part of this unique and historic event. An event that will raise more money for charities than in other in the boroughs history.

I have personally witnessed over many years the significant benefit this walk has given to local and national charities as the walk has raised millions of pounds for them. I want to give a huge thank you to my CWFP committee who have worked extremely hard alongside the AECWFP committee.

Thank you all for joining me for such a hugely worthy cause and also to experience this special piece of history.

CLLR . IFTIKHAR CHAUDHRI , MAYOR OF RUNNYMEDE MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE I want to offer a warm welcome to all those taking part in the Walk for Peace here in Runnymede. We are very proud of our history in this Borough where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215, a document that became the basis for the rule of law in the UK.

But this Borough is not just about looking back but embracing the future. That is why we are so pleased to be hosting the Walk for Peace, a multi- cultural event organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association celebrating diversity and social cohesion in 21st century Britain. The Ahmadiyya community is one of the oldest and established Muslim communities in Britain. The Elders put in a huge amount of effort and resources each year to raise money for charities and offer the hand of friendship to all fellow communities who form modern day society in this country.

The Walk for Peace has been running since 1985 and each year the organiser set themselves more challenging targets in terms of how much is raised for charities taking part in the event. What’s more is that 100% of the monies raised go to charities with all overheads being met by the organisers with a small contribution from Runnymede Borough Council.

We would like to thank Surinder Arora (Chairman of the Arora Group) for the use of Savill Court and the Park Rangers of for their help and support with this event.

Have a great day everybody.

PAUL TURRELL CHIEF EXECUTIVE , RUNNYMEDE BOROUGH COUNCIL MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN I am delighted to welcome you all to what promises to be a spectacular, historic and record breaking year for the Charity Walk for Peace.

Your support, through the many Charity Receptions held across the UK that have preceded the Charity Walk, has been incredible and I thank each and every one of you for your support, kindness and generosity.

I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Runnymede Borough Council and the Mayor of Runnymede for their constant help and support in making todays walk a reality.

I hope and pray that you will have a wonderful day with us with many memories in our collective service to humanity.

ZAHEER AHMED CHAIRMAN CHARITY WALK FOR PEACE MESSAGE FROM SURINDER ARORA It’s a real pleasure to open the event today. I hope this Fundraising initiative is a huge success and will support multicultural diversity and people to take positive steps towards responsible and sustainable fundraising as a way of life.

Let me first of all express my sincere gratitude to Paul Turrell and Iftikhar Choudary for their great work as Chief Executive and Mayor of the Runnymede Council. They have worked tirelessly in making this event every bit a success.

It’s great to see all of you present here today, positively engaging with fundraising and making it a central focus of your activities.

The Walk for Peace has been a success since 1985 and it’s because of people like yourselves who are committed to make a difference every year and raise money for the great cause. According to the Charities Aid Foundation, the UK is the most generous nation in Europe, and one of the most generous in the world - it’s in our DNA as a country.

I feel privileged and humbled that I am able to assist in a way. I wish you all the very best for the challenging target. The important fact is, like always, you are all here to make it happen.

I welcome you all to this picturesque part of our country to experience this special piece of history.

SURINDER ARORA FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN - ARORA GROUP MESSAGE FROM DR BRIAN PERRY I am delighted that the annual Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association ‘Charity Walk for Peace’ is taking place for the first time in the historic borough of Runnymede. I joined the Runnymede Organizing Committee at the request of the Mayor of Runnymede as a conduit between the Organisers and the local voluntary community. I was made most welcomed by all the volunteers from this Muslin community whose ethos is based on respect to all others.

This warmest welcome is extended to all Walkers and Visitors to the event. To the Walkers you’ll be doing a fantastic job in raising money for so many well-deserving charities and voluntary groups and at the same time mix with likeminded people who devote many hours of their time as volunteers to the benefit of others.

The day will be most enjoyable as you’ll be walking in one of the most picturesque Parks in Surrey. But most important is that you enjoy the day and what is on offer and have FUN.

DR BRIAN PERRY TRUSTEE DIRECTOR OF VOLUNTARY SUPPORT NORTH SURREY MESSAGE FROM JAMES KING The day has finally arrived and I am grateful to have been appointed on the CWFP committee as it has personally been an amazing journey to work with like minded people. To achieve what we have today is superb and I'm looking forward to sharing it with everyone who is taking part.

I am absolutely privileged and delighted to have the CWFP come to the historic borough of Runnymede this year as the host of this amazing event.

I look forward to working with CWFP in years to come, it's fantastic that this event has great synergy in the way of hosting this event in the historic borough of runnymede where the Magna Carta was sealed over 800 years ago.

This year the event has a target of raising £1,000,000 for local and national charities which is incredible, I hope we reach it.

Best wishes. JAMES KING CO OWNER OF BARON RESIDENTIAL MESSAGE FROM CLLR. NIGEL KING The Charity Walk for Peace is a multi-cultural, multi-faith event, unmatched in its munificence. It is a model of how the world could be if we celebrated the similarities that all people share, rather than dwelling on the few differences. Its message of faith, of hope, togetherness and of charity, has never been more important. I’m very proud to be part of the walk as the Charity Coordinator for Runnymede. The people that you see around you today, like yourself, are the givers, the sharers, the carers, the very essence of any compassionate community. I would like to convey a huge thank you to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association for their warmth and unrivalled generosity. Whomever at the Ahmadiyya first said “I know, let’s organise a charity walk”, deserves a knighthood. Good luck to all the walkers today, thank you for giving up your time, effort and energy for others. Good luck also to all the young people taking part. You might have sore feet by about noon today, but your efforts are greatly appreciated, and the rewards of your endeavours will be felt by many other people in your community. CHARITY RECEPTIONS

I just wanted to say thank you for what was a heart-warming and lovely experience last Sunday on the Charity Walk for Peace. It was so well organised and everyone we met from the very beginning was so helpful and friendly. RHLT managed to complete the whole distance (we weren’t sure if we would be able to) – we had 3 volunteers and 2 people with a learning disability taking part as well as myself. It was lovely for everyone to get a medal, our group were really proud, and also lovely to have a delicious curry after the walk. Thank you all so much, we have the greatest respect for your organisation and all the wonderful things you do for charity. Richmond Homes & Lifestyle Trust
