Unique world Class We are fortunate enough to own three of the Top Terroirs in the Eger wine region.

Nimród KOvács winery

Nagy Eged 10 hectares (Grand Cru - Grand Superior) Facing south-southwest, this steep-sloping site with unique exposure consists of limestone - laden soils, which contribute to a one of a kind mineral character to the wines.

Nyilasmár 8 hectares (Premier Cru - Grand Superior) Blessed with a unique microclimate due to Lake Bogács, this site has soils rich in minerals, which result in distinctive, fi ne, fresh, fruit-packed wines. Comprised of granite / volcanic soils, it has a south-southwesterly exposure.

Nagyfai 12 hectares (Premier Cru - Grand Superior) Gently-sloping and interspersed with rocks, this site produces well-balanced and rounded wines. Winery

THEE WIN RY

Kovacs Nimrod Winery is situated in seven continuous cellars, on the historic Verőszala street in Eger.

Back in the 18th Century there were hundreds and hundreds of wine press houses, very much like our own, which were erected above their respective cellars to handle the onsite processing of the grapes.

After the grape juice fermented, the wines were stored in barrels in the cool cellars below.

Guided by this tradition, we continue to make wine in a similar way, but aided by 21st Century technology. Winery

EGE R, THE TOWN

Eger’s history goes back to the 10th Century when Hungary’s first King St. Stephan established the first Bishoptry here.

In the 16th Century the Fort of Eger withstood a major turkish invasion (hence the legend of Bull’s blood was born) therefore protecting the entire region.

Starting from the 17th Century the Chuch built Eger up as a major Baroque literary town.

Today’s Eger is a charming mixture of old and new architecure, shops, museums, bath-houses etc. COLLECTOr’S COrNEr

This wine comes from the top (500m) of our Grand Cru Nagy Eged , and it is as dark and as lush as a Kékfrankos can get. The dense color is followed with concentrated aromas of blackberry, currants, and spicey wood tones. These aromas are continued on the palate by fl avors of blackberry, black cherry, and cassis, all tied together with balanced acids and silky tannins. Our Grand Bleu rewards us with a long and very pleasant fi nish. This wine will age beautifully in the bottle for many years! Only 500 bottles made. MONOPOLE WINES

These wines are sourced from our Permier Cru - Grand Made in a classical Burgundian style, Superior Nyilasmár and Nagyfai terroirs located in the our 2011 Battonage Chardonnay village of Noszvaj. NJK 2007 is our fl agship wine, representing one of the 1800 bottles produced out of a very good year. The wine was sourced from the very best fruit we had. As the 7th of the series of NJK/Nimrod wines, it brings together international varieties with the “local spice” of Kékfrankos, while refl ecting the unique Eger terroir. It contains 38% Cabernet Franc, 30% Kékfrankos, 20% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has bright fruit of cherry and red currant is nicely accented by slight smoke, cocoa and chocolate. It is smooth in the mouth, round and pleasingly long. The wine was aged for 3 years in both new and second fi lling barrique. It is ready to drink now, but will still continue to age beautifully in the bottle. EVERY DAY PLEASURES

The Egri Bull’s blood is the favored blend of the Eger wine region. Ours is made out of Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. The wine exhibits rich fruit fl avors and spices with a nice bouquet. A great accompaniment of meat dishes or just to be enjoyed on its own.
