ABOUT THE FESTIVAL (Legend/History/Myth)

It is one of the famous temples in Alappuzha. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Legend says that this temple has centuries old history. Annual festival of this temple is celebrated in the month of Medam ( April/May).

There is a flag hoisting ceremony Spiritual discourses marking the beginning of the festival. The shrine is Seminars traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, Percussion Music flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. There are Musical Concerts special poojas and offerings during the festival period. Also ClassicalDance annadanam is held on all days. Traditional performing arts Drama and music and dance are staged during the festival Cinematic Dance period. Thousands of devotees throng to witness the events Kadhakali and rituals. Numerous cultural programs and temple arts are Ottanthullal performed along with religious discourses on all days of the festival. Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and Bharathanatyam sheevali are part of the festival.
