    Summary of Sexual Abuse Claims in Chapter 11 Cases of Boy Scouts of America There are approximately 101,135sexual abuse claims filed. Of those claims, the Tort Claimants’ Committee estimates that there are approximately 83,807 unique claims if the amended and superseded and multiple claims filed on account of the same survivor are removed. The summary of sexual abuse claims below uses the set of 83,807 of claim for purposes of claims summary below.1 The Tort Claimants’ Committee has broken down the sexual abuse claims in various categories for the purpose of disclosing where and when the sexual abuse claims arose and the identity of certain of the parties that are implicated in the alleged sexual abuse. Attached hereto as Exhibit 1 is a chart that shows the sexual abuse claims broken down by the year in which they first arose. Please note that there approximately 10,500 claims did not provide a date for when the sexual abuse occurred. As a result, those claims have not been assigned a year in which the abuse first arose. Attached hereto as Exhibit 2 is a chart that shows the claims broken down by the state or jurisdiction in which they arose. Please note there are approximately 7,186 claims that did not provide a location of abuse. Those claims are reflected by YY or ZZ in the codes used to identify the applicable state or jurisdiction. Summer camp can be one of the great experiences in the life of a Scout. Each program, merit badge and evening campfire will linger in memory for years to come. This year is no exception, but it promises to be a year of summer camp quite unlike any in our recent memory. We know the Scouting motto of “Be Prepared,” but it has taken on a new significance to us, here at Camp Pigott. From the outset of our summer camp planning, the safety of our participating Scouts and their families has been the primary motivator for all of our decision-making. We are proud to share with you the summer program detailed in this guide because of how we have worked to reimagine and retain so many fundamental aspects of our program that are essential to the summer camp experience. Please know, we are committed to the continued development of our programs with input from all of our Scouting families to ensure the best possible summer camp experience for all. The primary purpose of camp is for scouts to have FUN! While advancing in rank and merit badges are undoubtedly important aspects of the camping experience, we must ensure that our scouts have the opportunity to engage in as many programs that they will enjoy. Reasons for the decline were varied: negative media surrounding local abuse allegations, the vote on the membership standards, public perception of Boy Scouts actively discriminating against youth and adults, low performing recruiting efforts, and a reduction in the number of Scout Reach youth. Traditionally, Cub Scouts (Tigers, Wolves, and Bears) are recruited extensively each fall and again in the spring with a focus on Tigers. Each Pack dispenses recruiting materials (stickers, flyers, yard signs) and holds a one- time registration event.
