“Unprecedented” How many other 2020 annual reports will include this adjective to describe the year dominated by promotions to partici- pate in the US Census, a volatile presiden- tial election, and a global pandemic? When the clock ticked 12:01 a.m. on Jan- uary 1, 2020, Chamber members were likely breathing sighs of relief. The flood waters of 2019 had receded, consumers were enjoy- ing holiday sales, and there was optimism in the air that 2020 would mean a new year and fresh start. But then the pandemic hit. Platte County continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state as well as a number of great career oppor- tunities available for candidates.
