Quick Hits on Quincy:

• Quincy enters its season finale looking to clinch just its second winning season since 2009, as the Hawks are 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC. Since beating Indianapolis on Oct. 15 to improve to 5-2, the Hawks have dropped three in a row and five of seven since winning their first three games of the year.

• The Hawks own the GLVC’s top defense, allowing just 317.2 yards per game and are among the top three in both rushing and passing defense; the 171.6 yards per game allowed are fewest in the conference and 17th-fewest in NCAA Division II. Adehkeem Brown is second in the GLVC with five interceptions, while linebacker Cody Leonard has a team-best 70 tackles.

• Wide receiver Eric Poindexter, who has the GLVC’s top all-purpose yard mark of the season with 375 against William Jewell in October, is fourth nationally in that department with 189.2 yards per game. Poindexter has caught 61 passes for a league- high 1,218 yards and 13 touchdowns, primarily on throws from Robbie Kelley, who has completed 58 percent of his throws for 2,290 yards and 22 scores on the season.

• Quincy is averaging 163.4 yards per game on the ground -- the third-best average in the league -- largely behind Jaylan James who has 735 yards and is averaging 4.2 yards per carry. The Hawks have had four games this season where they have ran for 200 or more yards as team.

Series history with Quincy: The Miners lead the all-time series with the Hawks 6-3 and have split the four matchups in Quincy. The Miners won last year’s game 42-35 in Rolla behind four touchdown passes from Tyler Swart; S&T’s defense forced a turnover on Quincy’s final possession to wrap up the victory.

Quincy won the last meeting it hosted between the teams, a 20-13 decision at Flynn Stadium (the Hawks now play on campus) by scoring a late touchdown to pull out the win. That was the only win in four matchups for the Hawks over the Miners since the GLVC began sponsoring football in 2012.

A victory over Quincy would: -- Give the Miners a final record of 5-6 for the season; S&T would finish at .500 season in GLVC play at 4-4. -- Give the Miners their second straight win over Quincy and fourth in five GLVC contests with the Hawks. -- Give the Miners a win in their season finale for the fifth consecutive year; would be the third over Quincy in that span. -- Give S&T its second road victory of the season; the Miners also won at Saint Joseph’s on Sept. 24. 2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 9 2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 10 2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 11 2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 12 2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 13
