Arr. by Jack Nitzsche who recalls that Neil Young played guitar on his own song. Produced by Andy di Martino. Cascades was a vocal/pop band from San Diego, CA, notable for a classic early 1960's Top 3 hit, "Rhythm of the Rain”. From Lead-singer John Gummoe’s homepage: Gummoe: In 1962, Gummoe, (in 1967 replaced by Gabe Lapano) along with band mates Dave Wilson, Eddie Snyder, Dave Stevens and Dave Zabo ("everyone in the group sang") hooked up with a San Diego based guitar teacher with Hollywood connections – Andy Di Martino. Di Martino became the manager and took their demos to Barry DeVorzon's Valiant label, a Warner Bros.' subsidiary (and later the home of the Association). "Out of the stuff that was on the demo tape, DeVorzon liked 'Rain' and 'There's A Reason'." Valiant offered the group a deal and they changed their name to the Cascades. "The name was taken from a popular dishwashing detergent at the time." "The entire first album was done at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood with studio musicians known as 'The Wrecking Crew', but we did all the singing. Hal Blaine and Glen Campbell played on those sessions. Phil Spector happened to be recording at Gold Star at that time and I remember him asking us if we were recording a demo for Rick Nelson." For music history buffs, the Cascade's second most famous musical mark came that same year. "Neil Young and Jack Nitzsche came into the studio one day (pre-Buffalo Springfield) with the Young song 'Flying On The Ground' and as I recall they had already cut the tracks. I love this record (and also the flip side ‘Main Street’). Luckily, it was a good key for Gabe." Unluckily, the label never got behind this should have been a hit. This is one of the first (and probably best) covers of a Neil Young song. Delaney Bramlett - single 574 Bramlett, Delaney Guess I must be dreamin’/ Don’t let it (be the last time) Independence IND-76 (US) Don Nix and Leon are the producers of both sides, and Leon is co-writer of the a-side and he plays organ on it too. Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett - Delaney Bramlett was born July 1, 1939 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi – died Dec. 27, 2008 in Los Angeles Bonnie Lynn O'Farrell was born November 8, 1944 in Acton, Illinois (now: Bonnie Sheridan) Promotional copy 582 Bramlett, Delaney Heartbreak Hotel/You Never Looked Sweeter GNP Crescendo GNP 328x (US) 1967/68? Both from the album “Genesis” and both prod. by Jackie DeShannon. Recorded a couple of years before Delaney & Bonnie hit the high times. According to liner-notes Leon is on both tracks but he is not audible. Great guitar on “Heartbreak Hotel”! You can take your pick among these musicians: Leon Russell, piano, guitar – Billy Strange, guitar – Al Casey, guitar – Glen Campbell, guitar – James Burton, guitar – Delaney, vocals and guitar – Bonnie, vocals – Hal Blaine, drums – Jackie DeShannon, producer. But the evidence of his greatest hits insists that he was heavily dependent on a variety of assistance. Which makes sense: Record making is fundamentally collaborative. Spector associates like engineer Larry Levine, arranger Jack Nitzsche, and husband-wife songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich were simply indispensable to his teen-art concoctions. Besides them, every Spector track featured a dozen or more musicians. The constant standouts were' drummer Hal Blaine, one of the most inventive and prolific in rock history, and saxophonist Steve Douglas. Finally, there were vast differences among Spector's complement of singers. An important part of Spector's genius stemmed from his ability to recruit, organize, and provide leadership within such a musical community. Darlene Love (who also recorded for Spector with the Crystals and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans) ranks just beneath Aretha Franklin among female rock singers, and "Christmas" is her greatest record, though it was never a hit. (The track probably achieved its greatest notice in the mid-eighties, when it was used over the opening credits of Joe Dante's film, Gremlins.) Spector's Wall of Sound, with its continuously thundering horns and strings, never seemed more massive than it does here.

The music video for "Hey Little One" shows an older man strumming his guitar and singing a low, slow ballad. His voice has weathered with age, but we'd know it anywhere: it's the voice of "Wichita Lineman" and "Rhinestone Cowboy," a voice that has won five Grammys, sold 45 million records, and blended country music with pop before it was cool. It's the voice of Glen Campbell. Hearing him tell his stories in song has always been a powerful experience—maybe more so now, because Campbell has Alzheimer's disease (AD). NBC/NBCU Photo Bank/Getty Images In the video (for a track from Campbell's latest album, See You There), we also see Campbell's wife of more than 30 years, Kim. She holds her husband's hand as they look out at the ocean and the horizon together. It's a poignant reminder that AD changes the lives not only of those who have the illness, but also of those who love them. A Widespread Disease Campbell is one of 5 million Americans with AD, defined by the National Institutes of Health as "an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to carry out simple tasks of daily living." AD begins with memory loss because the disease "starts in brain areas important for memory, such as the hippocampus," explains Janet Jankowiak, M.D., a geriatric neurologist and member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN).

Lennie had heard all these songs on Boston radio, but this environment added another dimension of excitement. One that left him longing to create that environment for himself and become a bigger part of it. It was this experience that lead to experimenting with the formation of bands. At 14, Russell lied about his age to land a gig at a Tulsa nightclub, playing behind Ronnie Hawkins & the Hawks before touring in support of Jerry Lee Lewis. Two years later, he settled in Los Angeles, studying guitar under the legendary James Burton and appearing on sessions with Dorsey Burnette and Glen Campbell. As a member of Spector’s renowned studio group, Russell played on many of the finest pop singles of the ’60s, also arranging classics like Ike & Tina Turner’s monumental “River Deep, Mountain High”; other hits bearing his input include the Byrds’ “Mr. Tambourine Man,” Gary Lewis & the Playboys’ “This Diamond Ring,” and Herb Alpert’s “A Taste of Honey.” In 1967, Russell built his own recording studio, teaming with guitarist Marc Benno to record the acclaimed Look Inside the Asylum Choir LP.
