Francis has issued an apostolic letter decreeing that the - the “offering of life” - has joined martyrdom and the heroic exercise of the virtues as a recognized path to beatification and in the Church. The title of the apostolic letter, , (“Greater love than this”) is a reference to Christ’s words in St. John Gospel (“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” 13:15) The faithful who “have voluntarily and freely offered their lives for others and have persevered until death in this intention are worthy of special esteem and honor.” Five conditions must be met for a Servant of God’s beatification under this category: • “the free and voluntary offering of one’s life and the heroic acceptance, on account of charity, of a certain and near death” • a link between the offering of life and a premature death • at least an ordinary exercise of the Christian virtues before and after the offering of life • the existence, after death, of a reputation of sanctity and of (potentially miraculous) signs • a miracle obtained through the Servant of God’s intercession.

Welcome! Thank you for choosing to worship with us today and we hope you will return often. If you do not belong to a parish, please consider choosing Corpus Christi as your church home. You may call the parish office at 255-4600 to register.

Can you help? The blank spaces mean we need more help in that ministry. Please come to the ushers room and sign in on the schedule to help. Thank You. THE LAMB’S SUPPER The Mass as Heaven on Earth By Dr. Scott Hahn

Of all things Catholic, there is nothing that is so familiar as the Mass. With its unchanging prayers, the Mass fits Catholics like their favorite clothes. Yet most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sundays fail to see the powerful supernatural drama that unfolds before them. John Paul II described the Mass as “Heaven on Earth,” explaining that what we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy. The Lamb’s Supper reveals a long-lost secret of the Church: The early Christians’ key to understanding the mysteries of the Mass was the book of Revelation in the New Testament. Beautifully written, author Scott Hahn will help readers see the Mass with new eyes, pray the liturgy with a renewed heart, and enter into the Mass more fully, enthusiastically, intelligently, and powerfully than ever before.

This book and others can be found on the book rack downstairs in the lower gathering space. A $4.00 is suggested for each book to help us continue this program.

LOTUS (Looking Onward to Understanding and Serenity) is a group for men, women and young adults who have experienced a death. The LOTUS Summer Support Group will meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month: July 25 and August 22 for men and women at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway.

OUR LADY, UNDOER OF KNOTS

• Please take a white ribbon from our Chapel and tie the knots of your life which may be to solve marriage/family troubles, financial problems, illness, fears, worries, loneliness, unemployment or issues specific to your life.

• Once you’ve tied the ribbon with the knots of your life you can take your ribbon home and pray on your knots. When you are ready to give your knotted ribbon to the Blessed Mother and ask for her intercession to Jesus, your ribbon can be placed in the crystal bowl on the table in front of Mary in the Chapel. • The picture and statue in the Chapel can be used as a focus for meditation during prayer. • Our hope and prayer is that this meaningful Marion devotion to “Our Lady Undoer of Knots” will help you undo the knots of your life as you bring them to Mary and her son, Jesus.

Funeral Pre-Planning Thinking about pre-planning a funeral leaves most people a little uneasy. However, pre-planning can give you peace of mind as you will know you have helped your family at a very difficult time. It also allows an opportunity to express preferences at this time of a final good-bye. This removes the burden of family members having to guess about your wishes. Our Pastoral Care Associate, Cindy Anderst, is available with information and to answer any questions that you might have about this process. You can call her at the parish office at 255-4600. Pre-planning a funeral can be one of the last and greatest gifts you can give to your family. Wednesday, July 19 com . rf Holy ground is all around .123 You’re not looking for God in the supermarket.
