We call upon the new government to continue the efforts that were previous begun and to work vigorous to end this legacy of same that haunts Malasia over the last several decas. The 14th General Elections was a s at many s in changing Malasa for the better, particularly in tes of situtional refos which aim to strengthen the quality of democracy, good governance and human rights. Malasias have been calling for a Malasa that s free from scrimination – be it race, religion, language or other fos. Additionally, there are stinct demans on the government to reform las that will be able to curb the usage of hate seech, while maintaining the right to freedom of expsson. It s als more pssng than ever for the government to set up the Independent Commsson on Harmony s per the recommendation of the National Unity Constive Council (NUCC), which was sorted by the previous government. Pust KOMAS Malasa Racial Dscrimination Report 2019 mas the 5th year of s publication ths year, highlighting that the incidences of racial scrimination in Malasa continues to ris. Unfortunately, rasm hs become more pronounced and has been increasingly sed s a political tool to divide our society. 7 trends of racial scrimination in Malasa were identified, which includes scrimination in the education sctor, busness sector and other indusries racializing criminality, hate seech and the se of provocative racial sntiments Racial scrimination as reared its ugly head during the elections campaigning period. s witnessed before, there remas a number of individuas and right-wing groups that continue to fire up racial sntiments The purpos of creating a report s s ths, s to keep a record of Malasa in tes of our conduct on managing sss of racial scrimination. The Malasa Racial Disrimination Report s a sall effort to capture the tres of racial scrimination in Malasa, but it does not claim to cover the holisic view of the sss reported within the Malasa. In this report, Pust KOMAS has, for the st time, embarked upon monitoring the speechs of the Membes of Parliaments in Parliamentary sttings Surprisngly, we have found that even our esmed leas of the nation have sed to uttering racial ss in the Dewan Rakyat. Photo: AFP * Arnold Puyok is Senior Lecturer in Politics and Government Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). 1 ISSUE: 2021 No. 8 ISSN 2335-6677 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY • Public opinion polls conducted prior to the 16th Sabah state election provided telltale signs of Warisan’s loss of support and impending electoral defeat. • Warisan’s fall from power was mostly due to the party’s inability to address the priority needs of the largely rural Muslim Bumiputera and Kadazandusun voters. • Research fieldwork during the election campaign and post-election analysis reveal that rural Sabah voters are more concerned with bread-and-butter issues, while their partisan loyalties are not steadfast. They are willing to trade their political support for programmes and policies that yield tangible benefits. • The new state government led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will face the twin challenges of appeasing increasingly demanding voters and delivering public goods effectively. • As GRS navigates these politically uncertain times, its future in Sabah looks unpromising. 2 ISSUE: 2021 No. 8 ISSN 2335-6677 INTRODUCTION In the recent Sabah state election, GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah), comprising BN (Barisan Nasional), PN (Perikatan Nasional) and PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah), won 38 seats in the state legislative assembly, prevailing over a Warisan-led coalition by a six-seat margin.

In a party where the Youth chief himself is 40 and sporting a greying beard, Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak has time and again stressed the need to rejuvenate itself and attract the young. “Umno and Najib specifically have been saying about it (rejuvenation) for quite some time but they lack the political will to do so,” said Professor Dr Arnold Puyok, a political science lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. “I don’t think Najib has totally abandoned the idea of ‘peremajaan Umno’ (rejuvenation). He is just being cautious as doing so will put him in a collision course with the old guards.” In fact, as far back as 2014, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said older Umno leaders were unhappy with Najib’s call for rejuvenation as they believed it would pit them against their younger counterparts. He said the “noble proposal” that would help Umno win elections could be a “ticking time- bomb” instead.

Rombouts Co-reader: S. Bekker Executive summary Creating equal opportunities and equity in the area of employment is a challenging policy decisions for all nations. In trying to address inequality in the labour market, some countries have chosen to adopt “positive discrimination” measures, otherwise referred to as affirmative action. Yet, years after their implementation, the measures are the target of enduring objections. Critics argue that the model provides unfair opportunities for a selected group, stressing market inequalities while supporters relentlessly point out the need for such measures in remedying past discrimination. In a first time, the study provides a set of definitions surrounding the measures as well as and overview of international and regional interpretations of affirmative action. Further arguments for and against the implementation are discussed. The second part of the research provides and in-depth analysis of how affirmative action is understood at national level in three different countries: Canada, South Africa and Malaysia. Having compared the three methods of implementation, the study analyses labour market changes incurred by the adoption of such policies in the three countries. The study finds more encouraging labour market results in Canada and Malaysia but denotes adverse spill over effects of these policies in all countries. The research notes that affirmative action measures have been necessary in addressing numerical representation issues.

Perincian jumlah kes mengikut daerah dan mukim Negeri Sembilan adalah Seremban (3,973 kes), Rembau (416 kes), Port Dickson (275 kes), Kuala Pilah (34 kes), Tampin (33 kes), Jempol (27 kes) dan Jelebu (16 kes). 2. Pecahan mengikut mukim bagi daerah Seremban adalah seperti berikut: i. Ampangan 1,432 kes; ii. Labu 1,133 kes; iii. Seremban 600 kes; iv. Rantau 358 kes; v. Rasah 277 kes; vi.     Agong Attends Sultan Of Brunei's Golden Jubilee Royal Banquet BERNAMA 06/10/2017 BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V and several Malay rulers attended the royal banquet held in conjunction with Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's Golden Jubilee celebration at the Nurul Iman Palace here tonight. Sultan Muhammad V arrived at the palace at 8 pm. Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. The Golden Jubilee celebration, which began officially last Tuesday, marks the 50th anniversary of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's accession to the throne on Oct 5, 1967. Yesterday, the Sultan and Permaisuri Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha travelled in a golden royal chariot through the streets and waved to tens of thousands of his subjects as part of the celebration. Among the Malay rulers who attended the royal banquet were Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor, Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu, Pahang Regent Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin. Also present were Penang Governor Tun Abdul Rahman Abas, Sarawak Governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, and Chief Minister of Sabah Tan Sri Musa Aman. Other country leaders who were also invited to the royal banquet were Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Thailand Prime Minister General Prayut Cha-O-Cha. This construct is used to explain the influence of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and its consequence towards firm performance. Design/methodology/approach Multiples Linear Regressions (MLR) analysis was conducted to test the hypothesis on surveyed firms selected from the current available list given by MARA (the government agency for Indigenous or Bumiputera SMEs). The specific research question is: Does the relationship between government supports received by entrepreneur and firm performance is mediated by entrepreneurial orientation (EO)? Findings In Malay firms, the relationship between government supports with firm performance was not mediates by entrepreneurial orientation (EO). However, the construct is significant as predictor towards firm performance. Practical implications This research provides a better understanding of the indigenous entrepreneurs for policy makers, NGOs, business support organizations and the indigenous entrepreneurs themselves particularly in planning or utilizing government supports programmes. Originality/value The impact of government supports towards firm performance observed in Malay firms is unique to the paper. Our studies provided the empirical test in understanding indigenous entrepreneurship in Malay firms in Malaysia towards developing a more holistic entrepreneurship theory.
