King Township Public Library King City, Ontario Chief Executive Officer Posting open until filled. Review of applications begins October 11, 2011. Libraries are changing. You know that and we know that. We want a CEO who can lead and leverage, who can be strategic about new technologies while ensuring equitable service. Communities are also changing. We will experience dramatic growth and changing demographics over the next decade. We need a CEO who can keep the Library in step with the community, nurturing critical partnerships with volunteer organizations to embed the Library in the community’s business, conservation, cultural and educational affairs. You recognize that leadership is the exercise of social influence. You will be keen to continue our exceptional reputation, to profile the Library in the province and beyond, to develop and manage strong relationships with mayor, council and township officials. Skilled at revenue development, you can demonstrate value for municipal investment in its public libraries. We are a leading library system with four branches encompassing the villages and hamlets of Ansnorveldt, Kettleby, King City, Laskay, Lloydtown, Nobleton, Pottageville, Schomberg and Snowball. These villages, halfway between Toronto and Barrie, are surrounded by agricultural lands yet only 30 minutes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport and easily accessible to the city’s exuberant cultural life. Residents are well educated, with average family income exceeding the provincial mean and unemployment very low. This history of Ontario may be seen in King Township’s physical features: the Oak Ridges Moraine; the Humber corridor, an ancient portage; the unique Holland Marsh, known as “Ontario’s Salad Bowl,” providing fresh produce to local and export markets; rich farmland settled by early immigrants who established vibrant villages renowned for fostering basic principles of democratic government. Its rolling green space is home to equestrian medalists and other sports stars, and the largest golfing complex in Canada. As a Board we look forward to working with a new CEO on strategic planning and moving forward. You will champion and inspire others, be a networker, ambitious and personable, with political savvy, and business and financial acumen. If this profile speaks to you, the Board offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
