GRAND HOTEL Written by Bela Balazs Based on the play "Menschen im Hotel" By Vicki Baum American version By William A. Drake SHOOTING DRAFT PROLOGUE Berlin. Season is March. Action of the picture takes place in approximately 36 hours. Picture commences at approximately 12:35 in the day. Time: The Present. EXTERIOR REVOLVING DOOR Show general natural action of people going in and people coming out but in it is the definite inference of people arriving and people leaving the big hotel. MOVE INSIDE THROUGH THE REVOLVING DOOR -- very quickly. CAMERA PAUSES ON THE THRESHOLD like a human being, seeing and hearing. DISSOLVE OUT. DISSOLVE INTO: Clock. It is twenty minutes to one -- and then moves slowly into the crowd of busy mid-day business jumble. CAMERA pushes through crowd and passes by the foot of the steps that lead up to the restaurant. In its journey, it passes Kringelein looking up. He is not pointed. THE CAMERA then saunters -- getting a slow profile movement across -- near Senf's desk. Senf is very busy. THE CAMERA now passes -- profile -- the desk of Senf. General action. Senf stands before his background of slots and keys. WE PROCEED until we are facing the elevator. At that moment the elevator is opening. Among the people who emerge is Suzette, who moves too quickly for us to distinguish who she is. THE CAMERA PANS quickly with her and in the distance we hear her saying to Senf: SUZETTE Madam Grusinskaya will not want her car. This line is only just above the general clatter of action but it is picked-up sharply first by Senf then by Bell- Captain -- and as the CAMERA SLOWLY TURNS AROUND, we see the boy going towards the door and we hear the voice in the distance, saying: VOICE Cancel Madam Grusinskaya's car.

Since 1884, Bulgari has exemplified Italian excellence. Built upon 2700 years of Roman history, Bulgari honors its rich past within its modern designs. Renowned for a stylistic audacity and a penchant for color, a Bulgari piece is immediately recognizable. The sensuality of volume, a love of linearity, and a reverence for the art and architecture of its ancient roots – such characteristics define each creation. With a mastery of artisanal craftsmanship, Bulgari innovates the future of design, and guards the legend of exquisite beauty. Finding its Roman beginnings as a jewelry shop, Bulgari was founded in 1884 by Greek silversmith Sotirio Bulgari. Today an icon of luxury, Bulgari is known for its unrivalled design, striking volumes and bold colors. Finding endless inspiration in the Eternal City, Bulgari reinterprets the majestic symbols of Rome into exquisite editions of jewelry, watches, accessories and perfumes. Honoring its history, Bulgari engraved the original Latin “V” epigraphy of its name above the prestigious Via dei Condotti store in 1934, inspiring the BVLGARI logo. In 2014, the magnificent DOMVS was built in the flagship store as a gallery to house Bulgari Heritage Collection treasures. The Bulgari name has become synonymous with brilliant color, symbolic storytelling, and peerless craftsmanship – for over 130 years. IN ALL THINGS BVLGARI, LUXURY IS LEGEND THE ART OF JEWELRY MAKING: THE BVLGARI SAVOIR-FAIRE Intricate and striking, Bulgari jewelry is highly recognizable. Some of Bulgari’s trademark designs – vivid cabochon-cut gemstones, coiling Serpenti creations, ancient Monete coin jewels – are only possible because of the masterful jewelry making of the Maison. From the trained eye of the gemologist to the meticulous hand of the goldsmith, Bulgari gems can take years to find and assemble, while Bulgari craftsmen devote months to each piece of wearable perfection.

  • Global Nomads: Techno and New Age As Transnational Countercultures
1111 2 Global Nomads 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1011 1 2 A uniquely ‘nomadic ethnography,’ Global Nomads is the first in-depth treat- 3111 ment of a counterculture flourishing in the global gulf stream of new electronic 4 and spiritual developments. D’Andrea’s is an insightful study of expressive indi- vidualism manifested in and through key cosmopolitan sites. This book is an 5 invaluable contribution to the anthropology/sociology of contemporary culture, 6 and presents required reading for students and scholars of new spiritualities, 7 techno-dance culture and globalization. 8 Graham St John, Research Fellow, 9 School of American Research, New Mexico 20111 1 D'Andrea breaks new ground in the scholarship on both globalization and the shaping of subjectivities. And he does so spectacularly, both through his focus 2 on neomadic cultures and a novel theorization. This is a deeply erudite book 3 and it is a lot of fun. 4 Saskia Sassen, Ralph Lewis Professor of Sociology 5 at the University of Chicago, and Centennial Visiting Professor 6 at the London School of Economics. 7 8 Global Nomads is a unique introduction to the globalization of countercultures, 9 a topic largely unknown in and outside academia. Anthony D’Andrea examines 30111 the social life of mobile expatriates who live within a global circuit of counter- 1 cultural practice in paradoxical paradises. 2 Based on nomadic fieldwork across Spain and India, the study analyzes how and why these post-metropolitan subjects reject the homeland to shape an alternative 3 lifestyle. They become artists, therapists, exotic traders and bohemian workers seek- 4 ing to integrate labor, mobility and spirituality within a cosmopolitan culture of 35 expressive individualism.
