Geotechnical & Geology History Alvan Naghsh Sazeh (ANS) was founded in 2007 in I.R.IRAN and has provided civil engineering services at different stages such as, preliminary investigations, supervision and quality control during the construction of projects in order to make qualitative and quantitative progress of civil projects in Iran and neighboring countries. For this purpose, ANS utilizes well-experienced and trained experts and attended in dozens of public and private projects, including towers, heavy oil and water tanks, power plants, industrial and petrochemical complexes, irrigation and drainage projects, oil fields, tourist resorts, residential townships, bridges, pipelines and power transmission lines. ANS has strongly believed in sustainable development with lower cost. we tend to save while keeping our design safe. Our advanced peculiar testing services as well as the ANS expert team support our beliefs. It should be noted that Alvan Nagsh Sazeh Consulting Engineers also has opened its northern branch of Khouzestan at Andimeshk city to provide geotechnical studies, material strength (Soil, Concrete Asphalt, Welding Controls) and quality control of Projects. Also, this company in order to export technical and engineering services has set up and equipped a geotechnical laboratory and a consulting and contracting office in Iraq (Basrah city) since 2013 to participate in civil projects and provide technical services. ANS Services •Road Construction Projects in E.P.C •Special Soil tests & Strength of materials form •Geotechnical and Structural design and •Architecture & Urban Planning supervision •Geotechnical &Geology engineering •Soil improvement methods ANS has the following grades from the management and planning organization of Iran. •Road Construction •Architecture & Urban Planning •Geotechnical & Strength of Materials Organizational Chart Professional Laboratory of Soil and Strength of Materials ANS with the purpose of sustainable development and increase in the quality and quantity of its services, has taken actions to build and equip the laboratory with the area of more than 500 m2 which is located in Golestan district in Ahvaz. The laboratory contains variety of modern equipment in order to carry out different tests in the field of soil mechanic, concrete, and strength of materials. The main aim of this consultant is to improve the technical skills of its staffs has attended to regular training sessions in different technical fields in accordance with international standards and under the supervision of academic experts. Different Parts of the Central Lab 1-Soil Mechanics In this part, different laboratory tests services Alvan Naghsh Sazeh including all of the physical and chemical tests on Consulting Engineers the soil and water and also, special laboratory tests Geotechnique & Strength Of Materials such as: CU&CD 3axial tests (static and dynamic), determination of dynamic soil parameters, soil Road Construction electrical resistance and soil Corrosively etc are Architecture & Urban Planning done. 2-Strength of Materials This part of central lab includes all of the services and tests related to the cement concrete, bitumen, asphalt, and tension, compression and bending tests on steel sections such as bar, rebar, screw, and metal plates etc. Also, this consultant has the ability to perform all the destructive and non-destructive tests of concrete (ultrasonic & core drilling) and weld testing services included VT, PT, MT & UT. 3-Technical Office Technical office is responsible for collecting classification, data entry and extracting the conclusions from the results of the tests on samples for using them in the preparation of investigative reports in different projects and technical calculation. Furthermore, all calculations and designs, which are related to road construction and building projects under the supervision of the central technical office and the cooperating technical experts are done. THE WASHINGTON INSTITUTE FOR NEAR EAST POLICY n OCTOBER 2020 n PN85 PROTESTS AND REGIME SUPPRESSION IN POST-REVOLUTIONARY IRAN Saeid Golkar Green Movement members tangle with Basij and police forces, 2009. he nationwide protests that engulfed Iran in late 2019 were ostensibly a response to a 50 percent gasoline price hike enacted by the administration of President Hassan Rouhani.1 But in little time, complaints Textended to a broader critique of the leadership. Moreover, beyond the specific reasons for the protests, they appeared to reveal a deeper reality about Iran, both before and since the 1979 emergence of the Islamic Republic: its character as an inherently “revolutionary country” and a “movement society.”2 Since its formation, the Islamic Republic has seen multiple cycles of protest and revolt, ranging from ethnic movements in the early 1980s to urban riots in the early 1990s, student unrest spanning 1999–2003, the Green Movement response to the 2009 election, and upheaval in December 2017–January 2018. The last of these instances, like the current round, began with a focus on economic dissatisfaction and then spread to broader issues. All these movements were put down by the regime with characteristic brutality. © 2020 THE WASHINGTON INSTITUTE FOR NEAR EAST POLICY. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. SAEID GOLKAR In tracking and comparing protest dynamics and market deregulation, currency devaluation, and the regime responses since 1979, this study reveals that cutting of subsidies. Abadan The Rise and Demise of an Oil Metropolis Kaveh Ehsani and Rasmus Christian Elling In fall 1978, Abadan’s oil refinery workers played a decisive role in the Iranian Revolution by joining the national mass strikes. Just two years later, Abadan and the adjoining port city of Khorramshahr were shelled by the invading Iraqi army and effectively destroyed during the Iran–Iraq war (1980–88), which scattered their population of over 600,000 as refugees across Iran and abroad. The bloody liberation of Khorramshahr (May 1982) turned the tide of Iraqi advances. Abadan’s refinery workers remarkably kept up production under constant shelling through eight years of war and international sanctions, earning the two cities a prominent place in post-revolutionary Iran’s official mythology of the “Sacred Defense.” Despite state propaganda lionizing the workers, postwar reconstruction has not been kind to either city.[1] Prior to the war, Khorramshahr had been Iran’s largest port, while the much larger Abadan was home to one of the world’s largest refineries. Both cities were major commercial centers in the late 1970s. A major tourist destination with posh resorts and nightclubs, cinemas and shopping centers [2], Abadan also boasted Iran’s second major international airport and a large bazaar.
