CBU is among the nation’s largest private Christian colleges and universities located in Southern California, with a fall 2018 enrollment of 10,486 students. It ranked eighth among the fastest-growing colleges in the United States during a recent 10- year period in “Almanac 2018-19” published by the Chronicle of Higher Education and reflects the institution’s enrollment growth from 2006 through 2016. In 2006, CBU enrollment totaled 3,409 students. A decade later, in 2016, enrollment at CBU was 9,157 students, an increase of 168.6 percent. The No. 8 ranking compared CBU with other private non- profit institutions classified as “Master’s Colleges & Universities” in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Among the 392 institutions in that classification, enrollment growth averaged 15.7 percent over the same 10-year period. In September 2019, CBU was ranked No. 43 for “Best Regional University” by U.S. News and World Report. It marked the sixth consecutive year CBU has received a top-50 ranking in the category for public and private colleges in the West. It was also the 14th year that CBU has appeared in the Best Colleges list. California Baptist also placed fifth for “Most Innovative Schools,” No. 15 for “Best Undergraduate Teaching,” No. 25 for “Best Colleges for Veterans”; No. 28 in the “Best Value Schools” category; and No. 48 for “Top Performers on Social Mobility” (graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants) in the USN&WR report. CBU offers more than 150 majors, minors and concentrations as well as more than 40 graduate programs and four doctoral programs.

CBU’s beautiful 160-acre main campus in Riverside, Calif. is situated in the heart of the historic Magnolia Avenue district just a short drive from popular beaches and mountain resorts. The Lancers are in year two of four reclassifications seasons to NCAA Division I after they completed a transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2013-14. CBU is primarily a member of the Western Athletic Conference, and if all goes according to plan would be D-I postseason eligible in the 2022-23 season. << LEARFIELD CUP CHAMPIONS >> The Lancers left NCAA Division II in just about the best way possible, winning the 2017-18 NCAA Division II Learfield Directors’ Cup with 905 points last season. It essentially recognized CBU as the most well rounded and successful institution in all of Division II. CBU steadily moved up the standings each season since joining the NCAA in 2013-14. CBU finished 26th in the Division II standings in 2014, moved up to 16th in 2015, fourth in 2016 and second in 2017 before winning it all in 2018. Fifteen of the Lancers’ 18 NCAA-sponsored sports qualified for the postseason in 2017-18, with eight being represented at the Division II Championships and securing top-14 finishes.
