Pliego De Prescripciones Técnicas Para El Suministro PLIEGO DE PRESCRIPCIONES TÉCNICAS PARA EL SUMINISTRO DE MONOGRAFÍAS IMPRESAS DESTINADAS A LA BIBLIOTECA TOMÁS NAVARRO TOMÁS DEL CENTRO DE CIENCIAS HUMANAS Y SOCIALES DE LA AGENCIA ESTATAL CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS, M.P. 1. OBJETO DEL PLIEGO: El objeto del presente pliego es definir las características técnicas y funcionales del suministro de monografías impresas especializadas en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, publicadas en cualquier país y en cualquier lengua, de forma que los ejemplares estén a disposición de los científicos en las condiciones propias de los fondos de la Biblioteca. 2. PARTES Y COMPONENTES DEL SUMINISTRO: El suministro estará formado por dos lotes de monografías impresas: Lote 1: Monografías impresas, publicadas en España, especializadas en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, que se detallan en el Anexo 1. Lote 2: Monografías impresas, publicadas en cualquier país distinto de España, especializadas en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, que se detallan en el Anexo 2. 3. ESPECIFICACIONES TÉCNICAS DEL SUMINISTRO: 3.1 ESPECIFICACIONES TÉCNICAS PARA EL SUMINISTRO DE MONOGRAFÍAS IMPRESAS SERIADAS CORRESPONDIENTES AL LOTE 1: Las monografías impresas publicadas en España correspondientes al Lote 1, serán las indicadas en el Anexo 1. El adjudicatario del LOTE 1 entregará en la biblioteca Tomás Navarro Tomás todos los lunes los ejemplares reunidos durante la semana anterior. La entrega de documentos irá acompañada de un albarán impreso y uno en soporte electrónico (Excel) que incluya, al menos, los datos de autor, título, lugar, editorial, fecha, edición, precio y referencia de los documentos que se entregan. La referencia es el número que identifica el documento en las listas proporcionadas por la biblioteca Tomás Navarro Tomás. El adjudicatario cambiará todo ejemplar incorrecto o en mal estado de conservación dentro del plazo de ejecución del contrato. Los adjudicatarios entregarán las monografías con su descripción bibliográfica en CIRBIC siguiendo el estándar MARC21 para sistema ALMA, cumpliendo los criterios técnicos de la Red de Bibliotecas y Archivos del CSIC. En el suministro de cada ejemplar se incluye: la descripción bibliográfica completa del documento, los datos del proceso de adquisición, el registro de holding, el tejuelado y etiquetado para el sistema de autopréstamo RFID que aplicará las condiciones de la biblioteca Tomás Navarro Tomás. La biblioteca Tomás Navarro Tomás facilitará información sobre la clasificación y sobre la distribución espacial de la colección física. También facilitará el soporte informático necesario para permitir el cumplimiento de dichas condiciones en su sede en la calle Albasanz 26-28 de Madrid. Cada ejemplar se considerará suministrado por parte del adjudicatario una vez esté colocado en las dependencias correspondientes de la biblioteca, debidamente referenciado. Cada ejemplar estará colocado en su dependencia correspondiente en un plazo no superior a quince días desde la revisión por parte del centro. El adjudicatario asumirá todos los gastos que pudieran producirse en la entrega de los documentos, en la información de seguimiento del contrato así como en la devolución y restitución de documentos incorrectos o en mal estado en caso de producirse. 3.2. ESPECIFICACIONES TÉCNICAS PARA EL SUMINISTRO DE MONOGRAFÍAS IMPRESAS EN ESPAÑA CORRESPONDIENTES AL LOTE 2: Las monografías impresas publicadas en cualquier país distinto de España correspondientes al LOTE 2, serán las indicadas en el Anexo 2. El adjudicatario del LOTE 2 entregará en la biblioteca Tomás Navarro Tomás todos los jueves los ejemplares reunidos durante la semana anterior. Los gastos de transporte de los ejemplares correrán por cuenta del adjudicatario. 5. SISTEMAS DE CONTROL Y SEGUIMIENTO DE LA EJECUCIÓN DEL CONTRATO: La empresa adjudicataria designará un supervisor para que realice el control y seguimiento de la ejecución del contrato y dé conocimiento a la Gerencia del Instituto. La empresa oferente describirá los sistemas de control y seguimiento que utilizará para garantizar la correcta ejecución del contrato, así como para asegurar una información puntual del desarrollo de los trabajos y de las incidencias que puedan producirse. Dicha descripción debe incluir la descripción del sistema de gestión de calidad implantado en la empresa. 6. OTRAS CONDICIONES: Cumplimiento de las obligaciones empresariales que establece la Ley de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales, así como la normativa y reglamentación que le sea de aplicación en su caso vr. Gratia (Código Técnico de la Edificación, RD 314/2006 de 17 de marzo, RD 1836/1999 Reglamento sobre instalaciones nucleares y radiactivas, RD 783/2001 Reglamento sobre protección sanitaria contra radiaciones ionizantes, Reglamento Lugares de Trabajo, etc.) En todo el proceso de desarrollo del trabajo o actividad, objeto del contrato, se tendrá en cuenta cuantas medidas sean necesarias para el cumplimiento del Plan de Contratación Publica Verde de la Administración General del Estado y sus Organismos Públicos y las Entidades Gestoras de la Seg.     Chapter 5 Migrating in the Medieval East Roman World, ca. 600–1204 Yannis Stouraitis The movement of groups in the Byzantine world can be distinguished between two basic types: first, movement from outside-in the empire; second, move- ment within the – at any time – current boundaries of the Constantinopolitan emperor’s political authority. This distinction is important insofar as the first type of movement – usually in form of invasion or penetration of foreign peo- ples in imperial lands – was mainly responsible for the extensive rearrange- ment of its geopolitical boundaries within which the second type took place. The disintegration of the empire’s western parts due to the migration of the Germanic peoples in the 5th century was the event that set in motion the con- figuration of the medieval image of the East Roman Empire by establishing the perception in the eastern parts of the Mediterranean that there could be only one Roman community in the world, that within the boundaries of authority of the Roman emperor of Constantinople.1 From that time on, the epicentre of the Roman world shifted toward the East. The geopolitical sphere of the imperial state of Constantinople included the broader areas that were roughly circumscribed by the Italian peninsula in the west, the regions of Mesopotamia and the Caucasus in the east, the North- African shores in the south, and the Danube in the north.2 The Slavic settle- ments in the Balkans and the conquest of the eastern provinces by the Muslims between the late-6th and the late-7th century were the two major develop- ments that caused a further contraction of east Roman political boundaries, thus creating a discrepancy between the latter and the boundaries of the Christian commonwealth that had been established in the east in the course of late antiquity.3 This new geopolitical status quo created new conditions regarding the movement of people and groups within the Empire.

Milligan Senior Lecturer in History Honors Adviser * Signatures are on file in the Schreyer Honors College. i ABSTRACT This thesis is an examination of change and continuity in imperial conceptions of the Roman-Byzantine identity between the years 867 – 1025 CE. This period of the Byzantine Empire, a Roman relict state far outlasting the collapse of the Western Empire in 476, encompasses most of the Macedonian dynasty (867 – 1056) and its associated renaissance. Under this dynasty, the Empire regained territories lost to the Muslim powers and successfully navigated religious and cultural recovery from Iconoclasm, a crippling theological dispute of the previous century. Despite the considerable geopolitical and cultural successes of the long-lasting Macedonian dynasty, extremely subtle but profoundly unsettling changes were occurring within the European heartlands of the Empire in Thrace, Macedonia, the Balkans, and Hellas. This thesis will address these changes. I argue that the conventional wisdom about the successes of the Macedonian dynasty has overlooked a gradual shift in the idea of what it meant to be a ‘true’ Roman in this period. Before the Macedonian dynasty, identification as ‘Roman’ had been restricted to those who were loyal to the imperial government in Constantinople, expressed adherence to imperial Chalcedonian Christianity, and fluently spoke koine, or common, Greek.

The name ofEric McGeer, an erstwhile student of the lamented Nicholas Oikonomides, automatically conjures up for us that splendid book with the most arresting of titles, “Sowing the Dragon ‘s Teeth “. Volodymyr Mezentsev is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures of the University of Toronto specializing in Byzantine and medieval and early modern Slavic archaeology, history, architecture and art. The final new member is Geoffrey Greatrex, who has recently obtained a position at the University of Ottawa. It is most heartening that at least one Canadian university is willing to appoint a young Byzantinist. For the interest of members I saw fit to break with customary practice by including in ‘Activities ofMembers” Geoffrey’s already impressive career list of publications (I wonder how many other Byzantinists have published in Esperanto) and a selective one for Volodymyr. Defining the term “sell into slavery” proves fallacious. “Enslave,” though at core correct, fails to recognize that adult fighting men were not andrapodized when captured, subjugated, and kept alive. Rather, andrapodizing is a type of premeditated and semi-lethal war- fare aimed expressly against inhabitants not trained, or too old or too young, to fight back. Soldiers, when andrapodizing, abduct and dominate mainly the youthful—young women and self-mobile girls and boys—rather than other abused inhabitants who are abandoned as rejects, including old people and in- fants. The pandemic “andrapodizing of a locale or populace” follows this sort- ing procedure. introduction despite the immense scholarly work on warfare and slavery as presented in Homeric epic and later Greek sources,1 the significance of andrapodizing2 as a military practice needs to be reinterpreted by paying * All translations in this article are my own unless otherwise indicated. I certify that the intellectual content of this thesis is the product of my own work and that all the assistance received in preparing this thesis and sources has been acknowledged. 2 All roads lead to Constantinople Abstract The aim of this thesis is to provide an accurate depiction of the route and condition of the Via Militaris, the grand military highway that linked Belgrade and Constantinople, as it existed from the seventh century till the beginning of the thirteenth. It will consider the development of Roman roads in this region and how these changed, over time, into Byzantine roads. Further, the urban landscape of the Balkan Peninsula will be explored, from the changes wrought by the establishment of Roman authority, the impact of the Slav and Avar incursions, to what sort of settlements, if any, emerged afterwards. Finally the material effect this turmoil had on the administration and maintenance of the Via Militaris, and to what extent was the road restored after the Byzantine reconquest of the Balkans by Emperor Basil II, will be discussed.
