    MANITOBA AAA MIDGET HOCKEY LEAGUE Pembina Valley Hawks— 2014-15 Champions 2015 STATS & RECORD BOOK Celebrating 30 years 1985-1986 — 2014-2015 Preamble lthough the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League officially began with the 1985-86 season, the foundation for the league was laid a year earlier when the regional team Aconcept was first implemented. For the 1984-85 season, organizers proposed that an eight-team league be split into two four- team division with each of the teams playing host to a two-day tournament featuring teams from their own division. One final tournament would be held in which the top two teams from each di- vision would participate. The overall objective was to compete at the Branch, Western Regional and National Air Canada Midget Championship. A list of competing teams for the 1984-85 seasons has not been confirmed, but it is known that the rural division consisted of teams in Pembina Valley, Southwest, Interlake, Yellowhead and Brandon. The Winnipeg Stars won the provincial midget championship, defeating Pembina Valley Hawks in the City/Rural finals. The inaugural 1985-86 Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League season featured nine teams — Winnipeg (St. Boniface) Saints, River East Royals, Winnipeg South Monarchs and St. James Canadians in the City Division and Pembina Valley Hawks, Southwest Cougars, Brandon Wheat Kings, Parkland Stars and Interlake Raiders in the Rural Division. Winnipeg Wild and Brandon Wheat Kings, first and third respectively in league standings, placed nine players on the two teams, including three first-team selections and all six second- team selections. Wild placed four players including forward Jeremy Leipsic and defenceman Tyler Anderson on the first team and goaltender Mitchel Adamyk and defenceman Max Martin on the second team. Wheat Kings’ Josh Petersen was selected first-team goaltender, while forwards Bradley Schoonbaert, Coltyn Bates and Connor Gutenberg and defenceman Jesse Lawrence were se - lected to the second team. The alumni are a testament to the winning culture and reputation of this renowned franchise. The Saints are the only remaining franchise to survive from the original inception of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) in 1963. In 1972 the Edmonton Movers and Edmonton Maple Leafs combined to become the Edmonton Mets who, in turn became the Spruce Grove Mets in 1974. Under the direction of Doug Messier, the 1974-75 Spruce Grove Mets won the Centennial Cup Championship, the symbol of supremacy for Junior “A” hockey in Canada.

This club represented Manitoba and are the champions of Canada. This Club comes from the Constituency of the Honourable Member for Selkirk, the Attorney-General. We also have 60 students of Grade 11 standing of the Daniel Mcintyre School. These students are under the direction of Mr. Rohs.
