Process Technology shall be obtained from a World renowned Agency.

Green petroleum coke is conveyed from the raw material storage / unloading hoppers via belt conveyers to day bins feeding the coke to Pot Calciners for calcining. A part of the calcined coke is returned and mixed with input GPC depending on process parameters as well as required quality of CPC.

Green coke in the pot calciner is indirectly heated up to around 1250°C by high temperature fume in the flue in order to remove moisture and volatiles efficiently, improve real density, electrical conductivity and mechanical strength. Volatiles evolved during the process are introduced to the flue for complete combustion with the pre-heated air without any external fuel.

CPC from pot calciner is indirectly cooled in chute with water jacket and is discharged at regular intervals. Part of the discharged CPC is diverted for mixing with the input GPC and major part of CPC is conveyed to calcined coke storage. CPC is dispatched from the plant in Bulk.

Bag filter units are provided at all locations of GPC / CPC transfer to suppress the dust.

The flue gases pass through the Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) where steam is generated. The exit gases from the WHRB are vented to atmosphere through a stack. SPECIAL REQUEST

The proposed project already obtained Environmental Clearance in 2009, vide SEIAA order. No. SEIAA/AP/VSP-19/2009 dated 13-02-2009 as per SO 1533 Notification dated 14th September 2006, issued by SEIAA. The project is categorized as Category B project based on the threshold limits published in the Notification requiring Environmental Clearance from SEIAA. And also, as it is proposed to be located in the Special Economic Zone identified by the Government Of Andhra Pradesh, (where already other industries exist).

The project could not be implemented due to the poor market conditions and prevailing industrial scenario earlier. However, the demand for CPC has significantly increased in the last couple of years. Presently, there is a huge gap in demand and supply of CPC. Rain Calciner would like to utilize this opportunity and set up the proposed facility within an year of getting all necessary clearances.

Rain Calciner Limited will be fast track project with a proposed investment of about Rs 200 crores and good employment opportunity which will contribute to the overall development of community around the project.

Keeping the above in view, RCI requests the committee to Revalidate the Environmental Clearance for another two years.
