INFORMATION LEAFLET – ADVICE ON WASTE ACCUMULATIONS IN PROPERTIES/GARDENS L32 WASTE ON PRIVATE LAND OR IN GARDENS The Council will investigate complaints of rubbish accumulations on private land or in gardens which could be a potential nuisance to neighbours resulting in smells or public health risks associated with rats, mice or insects. Examples of waste materials which may result in a potential nuisance are bags of household refuse, food waste and organic waste etc. In such cases we will visit and try to work with the owner / occupier of the land to get the rubbish removed. If this is not successful we will serve a notice on the owner / occupier under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 requiring them to remove the waste material within a specified time period. Should they not comply we will arrange for the removal of the waste and recover the costs incurred from the person(s) on whom we served the notice. To make a complaint contact the Environment and Planning Department. Building materials, garden waste, large furniture etc. are unlikely to cause a nuisance to neighbours. Wrexham County Borough Council offers a bulky Household Waste Collection Service (tel. 298989) where large household items can be collected from your property.
