FTBOA.COM First Crop Sires Popular as Florida-bred Tops Day One BY BROCK SHERIDAN Hip 69, a Florida-bred filly by first crop sire Stay Thirsty was the sale topper on the first day as she lit up the money board at $180,000 on a bid from Stanley Hough. Out of the Seeking the Gold, stakes-winning mare Broadway Gold, she is a half-sister to Grade 2 stakes winner Broadway’s Alibi, Grade 3 stakes winner Golden Lad and Grade 1 stakes-placed and stakes winner R Gypsy Gold. She worked a quarter-mile in :22 2/5 at the Under Tack show. She was consigned by Ocala Stud who also bred the filly. “I just loved her pedigree,” Hough said. “I trained the mare and have watched everything out of her run. I also like Stay Thirsty, he’s off to a good start, but I got her mostly because of the mare.” Hip 107 was purchased for $150,000 by Francis Vanlangendonck for SAC Racing from the consignment of Eddie Woods, Agent. The bay filly is by first crop sire The Factor and is out of the stakes-pro- ducing mare Charismatic Lady, by End Sweep, making the filly a half- sister to stakes winner Dad’s Crazy. “She is just a nice filly that is very athletic,” Vanlangendonck said. “She fits our program well and she is also by a hot sire.” Michael Hall purchased Hip 204 for his Breeze Easy LLC for $150,000 from the consignment Thoroughbred Championships Train- ing Center. The bay colt is by Harlan’s Holiday out of Desert Queen, by Wavering Monarch, making the colt a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Marylebone and stakes-placed runners Unigold and Shiva Ryan. “I liked the way he breezed and I like his breeding,” Hall said. When asked what he had planned for the colt, he said he hopes to race him at Saratoga later this summer with trainer Troy Wismer. Hall also went to $150,000 to buy Hip 277. Yola Humor is a bay filly by Distorted Humor out of the graded-stakes-placed mare Ex Caelis by Fusaichi Pegasus. Ex Caelis is also a half- sister to stakes winner Le Rossignol.
