[6] HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS

Most riders approach Hot Springs from the west on 270. We have you coming into Hot Springs from the north from 298. Highwy 298 intersects Central Avenue in the middle of downtown Hot Springs near Bathhouse row. Since being “discovered” by Hernando de Soto ( he was actually told about the healing springs by local Indians ) in 1541, the therapuetic min- eral waters of Hot Springs have been used for their medicinal affects. As one of America’s first resort areas, the town really hit its heyday in the 30’s when Chicago mobsters made the place famous as they escaped the “heat” back up North. During the 30’s, the bath house district was bustling but the local alcohol, speakeasy’s, gambling, and prostitution contributed to the area’s popularity and made it a home away from home for the Chicago gangsters. While the more colorful aspects of the city’s past are gone, you will still find much to do in this eclectic city. Make sure you check out the Historic Downtown one bath house District and Bathhouse Row where there is only still in operation. An eclectic city Check out the BUCKSTAFF BATH with many things Buckstaff for to do! the authentic HOUSE Hot Springs experience. Also, make sure you c h e c k o u t t h e tower on top of Lookout Mountain. This is the third tower to be built on this location and from it’s 216 foot height, you can see most of the Ouachita Na- tional Forest and t h e D i a m o n d Lakes area.

[7] EUREKA SPRINGS, AR

Eureka Springs, Arkansas is one of the most unique and popular motorcycling destina- tions in the area. The town dates back to the early 1800’s and was built in the Victorian style and maintains the same character today. There are plenty of places to stay, eat, and plenty to do in town. Also, almost every road leaving Eureka Springs is a great riding road, so if you are planning to stay a few days, there will be no shortage of entertainment. For lodging, you could try the Basin Park Hotel. This hotel is built on the side of a mountain and is listed in Ripley’s Believe it or Not as having all ground floors in it’s mult-story design. Also, check out Eureka Springs Historical Museum to catch up on some of the local history and color. In town you will also find the Great Passion Play Park where every week ( check the local schedules ) the Passion Play is performed. The centerpiece of the park is giant, alabaster white, t h e Christ of the Ozarks statue. The statue is 67 feet cross from a distance. As in Hot Springs, only tall and the arms outstretch almost that wide one bath house still remains; the Palace Hotel suggesting the image of and Bathhouse. Or, you can just take the bike that brought you!

Try to visit this gorgeous chapel that looks as if it is part of the mountain. With over 6000 square feet of glass, it is definitely a beau- tiful place of worship.
