    Murlpirrmarra Connection Students Shine @ West Australian Football League Indigenous Round 2013 South Fremantle Football Club Presidents Luncheon On Saturday July 6th 2013, the Murlpirrmarra Connection was most generously invited to attend and present at the South Fremantle Football Clubs Presidents Luncheon. Two of the Murlpirrmarra Connection’s year 12 students, Duran Patch and Braden Gilbert were given the great honour in tossing the coin to start the match between South Fremantle Football Club and Claremont’s League teams to mark the WAFL’s Indigenous round. Not only was the match the ABC TV’s match of the round but Braden and Duran had the great privilege to meet and get to know some of the great South Fremantle players of the past and also the present day players. A big thank you to South Fremantle’s Football Club’s CEO, Stuart Kemp, Melissa Marsh and Michelle Miller for their fabulous hospitality. Bellenger1,2 Abstract Background: There is extensive research investigating the match demands of players in the Australian Football League (AFL). Objective: This systematic literature review and meta-regression sought to analyse the evolution of in-game demands in AFL matches from 2005 to 2017, focusing on the relationship between volume and intensity. Methods: A systematic search of Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and Cochrane Library databases was conducted. Included studies examined the physical demands of AFL matches utilising global positioning system (GPS) technology. Meta-regression analysed the shift in reported volume (total distance and total match time) and intensity (metres per minute [m.min−1], sprint duration and acceleration) metrics for overall changes, across quarters and positional groups (forwards, nomadics and defenders) from 2005 to 2017 inclusive and for each year between 2005 and 2007, 2007 and 2010, 2010 and 2012, and 2012 and 2015/2017 breakpoints. Results: Distance (p = 0.094), m.min−1 (p = 0.494), match time (p = 0.591), time over 18 km·h−1 (p=0.271), and number of accelerations greater than 4 km·h−1 (p=0.498) and 10 km·h−1 (p=0.335) in 1 s did not change from 2005 to 2017.

About Reclink Australia Reclink Australia is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to enhance the lives of people experiencing disadvantage or facing significant barriers to participation, through providing new and unique sports, specialist recreation and arts programs, and pathways to employment opportunities. We target some of the community’s most vulnerable and isolated people; at risk youth, those experiencing mental illness, people with a disability, the homeless, people tackling alcohol and other drug issues and social and economic hardship. As part of our unique hub and spoke network model, Reclink Australia has facilitated cooperative partnerships with a membership of more than 290 community, government and private organisations. Our member agencies are committed to encouraging our target population group, under-represented in mainstream sport and recreational programs, to take that step towards improved health and self-esteem, and use Reclink Australia’s activities as a means of engagement for hard to reach population groups.
