2 WelcomeWelcome Hello everyone! As the Co-Chairs for this year’s event, we’re thrilled to welcome you to Ivey’s 31st annual Scotiabank International Case Competition (SICC). With participation from top-ranked undergraduate schools across the globe, we know this will provide a unique experience that exposes you to different cultures and truly opens up a world of opportunity. With our Executive team, we’ve been planning events to ensure a memorable time and long-lasting connections with your fellow participants. Additionally, you’ll get the chance to participate in the SICC Spirit Cup where your team will accumulate points for each challenge and event you attend (and win!). With points comes gift cards, prizes, and immense school pride! Contained in the booklet is a timeline for the social activities and we will be sending more information regarding the details as we get closer to the event. Make sure to join the Scotiabank International Case Competition 2021 Participants group on Facebook where you can meet your fellow competitors and stay up-to-date with all things SICC. We look forward to meeting everyone soon and best of luck in the competition! Best regards, Jayshree and Trevor SICC 2021 Co-Chairs 3 Welcome Welcome to the 31st Annual Scotiabank International Case Competition! Welcome! The next few days will bring a tremendous opportunity to develop your understanding of current business challenges through working with your team on a case. You’ll also get to meet peers from around the world. The value of the time you spend together is only partially the competition. In the years to come it will not be the winner that you remember, rather, it will be the people you meet and the time that you share. On behalf of the Ivey Business School, I would like to thank Scotiabank and all of the judges. The generous financial support of Scotiabank and the personal involvement of our experienced judges are critical factors in the success of the Scotiabank International Case Competition. This year, we are pleased to welcome back our main sponsor and partner, Scotiabank. Scotiabank shares our vision of joining international students together to learn from each other. Indeed, the Scotiabank International Case Competition (SICC) exists to benefit its participants, but its reason for existence is to expose Ivey students to future business leaders around the world. Over the course of the competition, all students will have an unparalleled chance to be exposed to different cultures and truly open a world of opportunity. SICC was first initiated by Professor Ken Hardy and embodies the global focus of the late Ivey professor Harold Crookell. The competition is organized and managed entirely by Ivey students and attracts teams from the best schools from all over the world. SICC has three main objectives: to provide a forum where undergraduate business students can experience real world business problems through case preparations and learn from the diverse perspectives of the international competitors to encourage meaningful relationships between students and faculty of business schools around the world which are increasingly important in today’s international marketplace to provide an opportunity for industry and media to witness the future leaders of the business world and to arouse public awareness of the growing importance of undergraduate business education 8 7 Teams AARHUS UNIVERSITY With approx. 13,000 full-time students, nearly 2,000 part-time students, almost 250 PhD students and close to 600 faculty members, Aarhus BSS ranks among the largest business schools in Europe.
