Summit Seniors Gives Campaign ended at midnight on August 10th, and by any measure, but especially if only measured by meeting our stated goal it was a resounding success. As I write this note for inclusion in our September newsletter the final numbers are not definite, but to date the amount is significantly above our $25,000 goal. This means we, Summit Seniors, will be able to continue our tradition of giving our Annual Rummage Sale proceeds to County organizations and other non-profits which provide programs and services or benefits to senior citizens of Summit County. This is especially important this year with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it has had on these services. In light of this successful campaign we will be able to match and it appears maybe to exceed what we were able to provide last year. Over the next few weeks your Summit Seniors Board will be looking to determine how to best divide the final amount of monies raised among the important organizations mentioned in our campaign announcements. We will be asking them for information as to the shortages they have suffered in providing essential benefits/services to the Summit County population, especially senior citizens, during the last few months and their projections for the rest of the year. The Board will consider all of this and then try to provide funds to them to be able to continue their missions as well as ours. Once the Board makes its determination we will notify the membership and the community which organizations we have donated funds to. On behalf of the Summit Seniors Board I want to especially thank a few individuals who made the Summit Seniors Gives Campaign not only successful, but possible in the first place. We want to recognize the efforts of Brenda Alberico, Rummage Sale Committee Chair, and Joan Tilden of the Summit Seniors Board who initially promoted this endeavor and got it going. To all the members of the Rummage Sale Committee and Board who made calls to our members to encourage their donations. To Pete Pietrewic, our webmaster, and to Phil Mervis, Board Member, who worked long hours to make the necessary changes to the website and got the campaign donation site and software up and running. They also monitored the site during the campaign to as- sure its proper functioning. Thanks to the SCCSC staff for their assistance in answering calls and monitoring the mail. We, also, want to thank Evie Lau for her generous donation of wine baskets for our 4 largest donors. Again, from myself and the Summit Seniors Board a huge thank you to all who made our fundraising campaign a huge success, especially all who donated. Marc L. Schlesinger, President, Summit Seniors Board

Our Summit Seniors Gives Campaign was a huge success! We surpassed our goal of $25,000 on August 10th with your donations!

A special thank you to the staff at the Center for handling the many phone calls and check/mail handling. The exact amount donated is still to be finalized, as some donation checks are still being received. We want to thank all of our CALLERS for reaching out to personally talk to our members about the campaign. Many thanks also to EVIE LAU for the donation of four wine baskets for the top 4 donors. Finally, thank you to all the DONORS who contributed to the campaign. 100% of the campaign proceeds will go directly to our community non-profits.

We all missed the camaraderie of the Rummage Sale, and I know many of you are looking forward to it next year. Stay Safe and Healthy! Brenda Alberico, Rummage Sale Chair and the Summit County Seniors Citizens Inc. Board SCSC Happenings
