April 1, 2013, Issue 339 Inside Bones’ Hall Call Following this afternoon’s news that Premiere syndicated morning host Bobby Bones will be inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame with the 2014 class, Country Aircheck digs deeper into the unexpected acceleration of the selection process. CRS Exec. Dir. Bill Mayne explains that the Hall of Fame selection committee waived its usual application criteria for a number of reasons. “For several years, we’ve been concerned at the lengthy delays in the process,” Best Western: CMA’s Steve Moore and industry leaders Mayne says. “To keep the Hall as relevant as Bobby Bones gather to sign the “Ampersand Agenda” urging the possible and to grow the induction dinner as an re-adoption of “Western” in describing the genre. OFF THE RECORD: Krystal Keith Show Dog-Universal’s Krystal Keith put an industry spin on the artist interview: I grew up listening to KXXY and KTST/ Oklahoma City. They were the two big ones and with my dad being on the radio … we’d keep switching back and forth. They were our go-to stations. First time I heard myself on the radio it was a song my dad and I remade, the Krystal Keith James Taylor and Carly Simon version of “Mockingbird.” I was in the car by myself on a road trip and it randomly came on, but since I was alone … there were no witnesses to my absolute freak-out. I’ll never forget the time my dad and I performed “Mockingbird” on the CMA Awards in 2004. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were in the front row. Like, right in front of our faces. I accidentally made eye contact with Faith and got so nervous that I had to quickly look away. I can’t walk out of a truck stop without grabbing a Yoo- hoo. I found them in a can recently and I was so pumped. Instagram and Pinterest are my current app addictions. Especially Pinterest.
