I have a handy hint for the workshop. How often have you had a brand-new drill bit grab and break? I have reused them by making a tight-fitting sleeve and pressing the two-broken bit together and putting a spot of weld to stop them turning. Or have made an arbour that the broken piece is s tight fit and put a spot of weld. I use these repaired drills for drilling risky jobs like drill- ing pipe that can grab when it breaks through. I save the new drills for safer jobs. John Smith

Congratulations to a hard working volunteer of the Club on receiving the President’s Trophy for 2017. A person who keeps a low profile but one without whom the Club would have a lot of trouble with its functioning. Congratulations to John Heydon , VCC Treasurer, see he receiving the trophy from Club President Tony Hume. John is an ardent yachtsman and when not tinkering with his vintage Dodge, can be found playing a key role in the yachting community as well. Thank you John for all you hard work.
