13.1 Catherine Moore—1770

13.1.1 Catherine Moore (1603) was born circa 1770. She married William Lawson on the 30th of December, 1790, at Rushen, See Volume II, 2.15 for details of her descendants.

13.2 Thomas Moore—1750

13.2.1 Thomas Moore (5760) was born circa 1750. He married Isabella (moore) circa 1782, probably at Lonan. He was buried on the 9th of December, 1811, at Lonan (died 6th). See 13.3 for details of his descendants.

13.2.2 Isabella (moore) (528) was born circa 1756. She married Thomas Moore circa 1782. In 1841 she was living with her daughter and son-in-law at Ballacojeen, Lonan, when her age was recorded as 80-4 years. She was buried at Lonan on the 15th of June, 1844, when her age was recorded as 88 years. See 13.3 for details of her descendants.

13.3.1 Isabella Moore (425) was baptized on the 27th of August, 1783, at Lonan. She married Patrick Killip (see Volume III, 21.5.1) on the 21 of January, 1807, at Lonan. In 1841 she was living with her family at Ballacojeen, Lonan. In 1851 she and her husband were living at Laxey Hill, at which time she was described as “midwife”. In 1861, a widow, she was living in Laxey Village and again described as “midwife:. She was buried at Lonan on the 2nd of March, 1863. See Volume III, 21.6 for details of her descendants.

13.3.2 Margaret Moore (5761) was baptized on the 28th of November, 1784, at Lonan. She married John Kermode on the 21 of December, 1805, at Lonan. In 1841 she was living at Ballajorey, Maughold with three of her unmarried children. She was buried at Maughold on the 15th of October, 1849, when her age was recorded as 65 years.

13.3.2.1 John Kermode was born circa 1780. He married Margaret Moore on the 21 of December, 1805, at Lonan. He was buried at Maughold on the 10th of July, 1832.

13.4.1 John Kermode was baptized on the 19th of October, 1806, at Maughold. He did not surivive childhood and was buried at Maughold on the 18th of September, 1807.

13.4.2 John Kermode was baptized on the 24th of July, 1808, at Maughold.

13.4.3 William Moore Kermode was baptized on the 29th of July,1810, at Maughold.

13.4.4 Thomas Kermode was baptized on the 28th of March, 1813, at Maughold.

13.5 Robert Moore—1787

13.5.1 Robert Moore (2009) was born circa 1787, probably in Arbory. He married Esther Costean (Costain) circa 1815 (a marriage record has not yet been found). He died on the 14th of July, 1876, at Ballacomish and was buried on the 17th of July at Arbory. See 13.6 for details of his descendents.

He was a mason and farmed about 15 acres at Ballacomish, Arbory. The censuses of 1841–71 show him and his family living at Ballacomish. A Memorial Inscription at Arbory records his death and that of his wife.

13.5.2 Esther Costain (2010) was born circa 1791, probably in Arbory. She married Robert Moore circa 1815. She died on the 22nd of August, 1868, aged 77 (Memorial Inscription at Arbroy). See 13.6 for details of her descendents.

13.6.1 Margaret Moore (1713) was baptized on the 23rd of May, 1825, at Arbory. She married Edward Lawson (see Volume II, 2.16.1) on the 13th of October, 1845, at Arbory. She died in 1891 and was buried on the 19th of June at Arbory. See Volume II, 2.20 for details of her descendants.

In 1851 she was living with her husband and family at 4, Quay street, Castletown. In 1861 the family was living at Malew Road, Arbory. In 1871 the family was at Ballavarkish, Arbory. In 1881 at Grenaby Road. A widow in 1891 the address ia again Ballavarkish.

13.6.2 Catherine Moore (2007) was baptized on the 12th of October, 1817, at Arbory. She died unmarried and without issue and was buried ont he 20th of August, 1885, at Arbory.

13.6.3 John Moore (2011) was baptized on the 10th April, 1820. He did not survive infancy though a buirla has not been noted.

13.6.4 John Moore (1892) was baptized on the 27th of May,1821, at Arbory.He married Elizabeth Quayle on the 27th of January, 1853, at Arbory.

13.6.5 Ann Moore (5987) was baptized on the 23rd of June, 1823. She did not survive infancy and was buried on the 30th of May, 1824, at Arbory.

13.8.1 John Moore (5997) was baptised on the 20th of October, 1790, at Arbory. He married Ann Preston on the 6th of June, 1816, at Arbory. See 13.9 for details of his descendants.

In 1841 he and his family were living at Ballakindry, Arbory. He was a tennant farmer. In 1851, a widower, he was farming 20 acres at Ballakindry.

13.8.1.1 Ann Preston (6000) was baptized on the 3rd of December, 1794, at Arbory, the daugher of William Preston & Isabel Kaighin. She married John Moore on the 6th of June, 1816, at Arbory. She was buried at Arbory on the 25th of February, 1845, when her age was recorded as 50 years. See 13.9 for details of her descendants.

13.8.1.1.1 William Preston (5998) was born circa 1765. He married Isabel Kaighin on the 15th of November, 1788, at Arbory.

13.8.2 Henry Moore was baptized on the 29th of October, 1792, at Arbory. He did not survive infancy.

13.9.1 John Moore was baptized on the 1 of August, 1813, at Arbory. He did not survive infancy.

13.9.2 John Moore was baptized on the 22nd of July, 1816, at Arbory. In 1841 he was living with his parents at Ballakindry, Arbory.

13.9.3 William Moore was baptized on the 12th of January, 1819, at Arbory. He did not survive infancy.

13.9.4 William Moore (1715) was baptized on the 15th of October, 1820, at Arbory. He married Jane Lawson on the 1st of December, 1849, at Arbory.He died on the 14th of September, 1901, at Arbory.

In 1841 he was living with his parents at Ballakindry, Arbory. In 1851 he and his family were living at Ballabeg, Arbory, when he was employed as an agriculturla labourer. In 1861 the family were living in Malew Road, Arbory. In 1871 the family were living at 4, Billown, Malew.

The 1871 census shows two children that have not yet been identified: Ann aged 2 and Henry aged 9 months. Although they are recorded as daughter and son of William and Jane this seems to be unlikely. They were probably illegitimate grand–children. Ann may have been the niece to Ellen Collister nee Costain recorded as 13 years in the 1881 census.

13.9.5 Ann Moore was baptized on the 18th of June, 1823, at Arbory. In 1841 she was living with her parents at Ballakindry, Arbory. She married Richard Corrin on the 27th of April, 1844, at Arbory.

13.9.5.1 Elizabeth Corrin was baptized on the 16th of February, 1845, at Arbory. In 1851 she was living with her grandfather, John Moore, at Ballakindry.

13.9.6 Robert Moore was baptized on the 27th of November, 1825, at Arbory. In 1841 he was living with his parents at Ballakindry, Arbory.

13.9.7 Henry Moore was baptized on the 13th of July, 1828, at Arbory. In 1841 he was living with his parents at Ballakindry, Arbory. In 1851 he was living with his widowered father at Ballakindry.

13.10.1 Elizabeth Moore (1748) was baptized on the 10th of March, 1850, at Arbory. In 1851 she was living with her parents at Ballabeg, Arbory. In 1861 she was living with her parents in Malew Road, Arbory.

13.10.2 Jane Moore (2013) was baptized on the 29th of February, 1852, at Arbory. In 1861 she was living with her parents in Malew Road, Arbory.

13.10.3 John Moore (2014) was baptized on the 26th of February, 1854, at Arbory. In 1861 he was living with his parents in Malew Road, Arbory.

13.10.4 William Moore (2015) was baptized on the 18th of May, 1856, at Ballabeg. He married Jane Peters of Cornwall on the 2nd of April, 1885. He emigrated to Anaconda, Montana (date unkown), where he manufactured the fire bricks used in the smelters. He died on the 20th of November, 1943, at Chicago, Illinois. See 13.45 for details of his descndants.

In 1861 he was living with his parents in Malew Road, Arbory.

13.10.5 Catherine Moore (2016) was baptized on the 1 of august, 1858, at Arbory.In 1861 she was living with her parents in Malew Road, Arbory.In 1871 she was living with her parents at 4. Billown, Malew.

13.10.6 Thomas Moore (1607) was baptized on the 7th of September, 1862, at Arbory. In 1871 he was living with his parents at 4. Billown, Malew.

13.11 Edward Moore—1778

13.11.1 Edward Moore (6640) was born circa 1778 at Arbory. He married firstly Ann Comish on the 11th of February, 1804, at Arbory and secondly Catherine Clague (some 47 years his junior) on the 8th of May, 1845, atArbory. He was buried on the 8th of August, 1859, at Arbory.See 13.12 and 13.13 for details of his descendants.

A shoemaker, in 1841 he was living at Ballacross, Arbory, with his first wife and an unmarried daughter. In 1851 he and his second family were living at Ballacross, Arbory.

13.11.2 Ann Comish (6645) was born circa 1773 in Arbory. She married Edward Moore on the 11th of Februayr, 1804, at Arbory. She was buried at Arbory on the 7th of June, 1844, when her age was recorded as 71 years. See 13.12 for details of her descendants.

13.11.3 Catherine Clague (6641) was was born circa 1825 at Arbory. She married Edward Moore (some 47 years her senior) on the 8th of May , 1845, at Arbory. See 13.13 for details of her descendants.

13.17 John Moore—1530

13.17.1 John Moore (1449) of Ballameanagh Moar was born circa 1530 and was the first protestant Vicar of Lonan. In doucuments he is known as Sir John. No further details available.

13.18.1 Thomas Moore (1450) was born circa 1555. He inherited the lands of Ballakilley and Baldromma Moar. His Will of 1623 states, inter alia, “I sould my tytell in Balldromma to my brother Philip to maynteyne my owne farme.” This sale is believed to have taken place in 1577. No marriage has been traced. He died in 1623.

13.18.2 Philip Moore (1451) was born circa 1560. He bought Baldromma Moar from his elder brother in 1577. He bought Ballameanagh Moar in 1584. He married Ellen Lucas circa 1585. He died before 1609. See 13.2013.26 for details of his descendants.

13.18.2.1 Ellen Lucas (1452) was born circa 1560. She died in 1610. By a lawsuit in 1608 she recovered Ballameanagh Moar from her son Philip and granted it to her son John Moore. Presumeably her husband, Philip, was dead by this time. See 13.2013.26 for details of her descendants.

13.19.1 Philip Moore (1453) was born circa 1580, in Lonan. He was possibly appointed Parish Clerk of Lonan in 1610, which would indicated that he was born no later than 1590. In 1643 he compounded for Ballakilley, i.e., he arranged a fixed sum of money in lieu of tithes. William Norris, Vicar General and Vicar of Lonan, confirmed that Philip “never paid tythes for B’killey”. So far a marriage has not been found, but he is believed to have had at least one son.

13.20.1 Hugh Moore (1454), presumed son of Philip, was born circa 1605 at Lonan. Appointed Parish clerk in 1630 for 21 years with the glebe. This would indicated that he was born no later than 1610 and that he succeeded his father as parish clerk.

13.21.1 John Moore (1455) was born circa 1650 at Lonan. In 1705 he was in possession of BallaKilley and also the Cloven Stones, Garwick. He married Jaine Clague circa 1680. His Will of 28th of December, 1711, names his wife Jaine alias Clague, his eldest daughter Ellinor, his daughter Catherine and his son Thomas. Jaine and Catherine were appointed executors as the “other under age”. This seems to indicate that at this time there were three surviving children.

13.21.1.1 Jaine Clague (1457) was born circa 1650. She married John Moore circa 1680. She was buried at Lonan on the 4th of September, 1733.

13.21.2 Philip Moore (1456) was born 1650 at Lonan. He was in possession of part of BallaKilley in 1712. No further details available.

13.22.1 Elinor Moore (1459) was born circa 1686 in Lonan. She is named as the eldest daughter in her father’s Will of December, 1711. With her mother she inherited a share of his moveable and immoveable effects. No further details available.

13.22.2 Catherine Moore (1460) was born circa 1688 in Lonan. She is named as executor by her father in 1711, indicating she was at least twenty-one years old at that time. She inherited two sheep weaning, a mutton and one heiffer. No further details available.

13.22.3 Thomas Moore (1458) was born circa 1690 in Lonan. By his father’s Will of December, 1711, he inherited “…part of the husbandry gears belonging to the farm of Ballakilley.” and the Will seems to indicate that he was underage at that time. He married Jane Clague. He was buried at Lonan on the 17th of March, 1774. No further details available.

13.22.3.1 Jane Clague (1461) was born circa 1690. She married Thomas Moore (1458) circa 1720. She died on the 17th of March, 1774. No further details available.

13.44.1 Ann Moore (468) was baptized on the 2nd of September, 1781, at Lonan. She married James Lawson (467) on the 4th of January, 1806, at Lonan when the witnesses were Richard Mealey and Thomas Quark. Ann died on the 20th of January, 1824, at Douglas. After the death of James 5.15awson in July, 1817, Ann, who had been widowed with six minor children, married James Caine (558) of Andreas at Kirk Braddan on the 5th of January, 1819. The witnesses to the marriage were William Kelly and Thomas Curphey. There were two children of the second marriage. William Caine (559) born in 1819/20 and Joseph Caine (560) who was baptized on the 7th of November, 1822.
