Similarly, annotated bibliography of his other works such as major philosophical work (Kitab Shifâ), major medical work (Qanun fil Tibb), minor collective works on logics, poetry, physics, psychology, chemistry-magic, mathematics, music, astronomy, metaphysics, Quranic exegesis, mysticism, ethics, politics, prophecy, etc. and critical editions in almost all languages had been prepared and arranged, which includes publications and references in all major languages. But, to the best of our knowledge, no critical descriptive study has ever been done so far to evaluate the scientific report on all 63 cardiac drugs mentioned in his another famous work, Kitab-al Advia Al Qalbia. There is a need to comment on these drugs on the basis of clinical and experimental study regarding the utility of Ibn Sina’s cardiac drugs. Some of these drugs could be found safe without any reported adverse reactions. Such drugs with safe profile need to be further explored, to select promising and accessible drugs. If toxic effects are reported, then the flagging of such drugs and its present position in clinical utilization should be delineated. The present paper deals and discusses the cardiac drugs described by Ibn Sina in the contemporary research after extensive literature review and meta-analysis.

Children use medicines and wish to learn about them but there is nobody to tell them. Their parents and teachers have little more information than they. But the really devastating indictment of us ‘safety experts’ is that we cannot answer such straightforward questions as, ‘Why is that drug better/safer than that one?’ In fact we cannot say much about the safety of medicines in children at all because they are not tested in children. Although if they were, we would still have little evidence about safety because of the usual shortcomings of clinical trials when it comes to safety issues. The slogan which came out of the meeting was ‘Children and Youth: education before medication’. This seems right for a future with more and more powerful drugs to be used effectively and safely. Our current safety surveillance provides us with lots of information, albeit of variable quality - we do even get concerns about children and adverse drug reactions - but it stops with experts in industry and regulatory bodies.

It originated from Wuhan city of China in December 2019 and spread like a wild fire to the entire globe and was declared as global pandemic by WHO on March 11, 2020. With no available cure and vaccine, this disease has taken a mammoth toll on the human life; therefore, SMS (‘Social Distancing’, use of ‘Mask’ and regular hand washing with ‘Soap’) has emerged as a sole tool to prevent its spread. The Indian government declared the first lockdown from March 25th 2020 with subsequent second, third and fourth lockdowns up to 31st March 2020 to decrease the disease transmission and flatten the disease transmission curve. Aligarh Muslim University is one of the prestigious central and residential universities in India. It is located in Aligarh district adjoining national capital region. The university has an attached tertiary care ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital’. This narrative review discusses the various steps and procedures taken up by the university and hospital administration, other functionaries, faculty members and doctors in tackling the serious pandemic until 22nd June 2020. The proactive role of administration, dedication and hard work of health care professionals and innovation of some academicians has given a new vista of opportunities to tackle this global health pandemic.

The Conference will also witness launching of the Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments (SAAE). The Conference aims to discuss the perspectives on the current state of practices and existing strategies to promote the development of non-animal technologies in India. The Conference will be held at Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, a Deemed to be University accredited in category ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India in three consecutive cycles. Jamia Hamdard is an outstanding institution of higher learning with clear and focused academic and research programmes. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework-2018 it was ranked 2nd in the Pharmacy discipline and 23rd in the University category in India.
