Welsh National Betting Preview Submitted By: Moneta Communications Tuesday, 23 December 2008 Welsh National Betting Preview Submitted by: Moneta Communications Tuesday, 23 December 2008 The Welsh National is the first of the four major Grand Nationals to be held each season and it is the ultimate test of stamina for long distance chasers. The Coral Welsh National (http://www.welsh-grand-national.co.uk/) takes place at the lush Chepstow racecourse each year a few days after Christmas. It is run over three miles and five and a half furlongs and due to the time of year, it is usually raced on very testing ground. It is a spectacular race and quite rightly is regarded as the biggest and best steeplechase on Welsh soil. There have been many top horses that have won the race and gone on to bigger and better things. For instance, Rag Trade won the Welsh National in 1976 and then went on to win the Grand National at Aintree as too did the Jenny Pitman trained, Corbiere, who achieved the feat in 1982/3. Burrough Hill Lad, also trained by Jenny Pitman was one of the classiest horses to have won the race and he went to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup in the same season. This feat was also emulated by both Cool Ground in 1990 and Master Oats in 1994. This years Welsh National Betting (http://www.welsh-grand-national.co.uk/odds.html) looks to be as open as ever and the betting is headed by the Alan King trained, Nenuphar Collonges at 6/1 who made a winning return to the larger obstacles at Bangor having not run over fences since 2007 and impressed with his jumping and the Welsh National should be a perfect test of stamina for him. Mon Morne is next at 13/2 and put in a top performance at Cheltenham the other week to show his well being and would be one of the Welsh National Tips (http://www.welsh-grand-national.co.uk/tips.html). Halcon Generlardais, also trained by King, won this race in 2006 and was second in last years race and is a 10/1 chance. Local trainer, Evan Williams, has entered High Chimes, who ran a great race when finishing sixth on the Hennessey Gold Cup, he is in the betting at 11/1 best price with Paddy Power (http://www.betting-directory.com/bookmaker-paddypower.php). The Online Bookmakers Free Bets (http://www.betting-directory.com/) will be available to new customers placing a bet in the race and many cash strapped punters will be looking to avail of these offers after all the Christmas expenses. • Venetia Williams – Racehorse Trainer
V W VENETIA WILLIAMS RACEHORSE TRAINER V W Welcome to the World of National Hunt Racing National Hunt racing is one of the most exhilarating, exciting and dramatic sports available in the UK. In October the National Hunt season takes over centre stage from racing on the flat, and the older, more mature horses enter the arena to compete over hurdles and fences. National Hunt horses tend to have longer racing careers than their flat counterparts. Due to this longevity the public become attached to certain horses and the relationship intensifies as they experience the highs and lows of their racing careers. Many such horses have become household names, Arkle, Red Rum, Desert Orchid and Kauto Star, to name but a few. Cheltenham, now firmly established as one of the top social events in the sporting calendar, holds its own against any of the other major annual sporting events. Here the best jumps racing in the world can be seen, culminating with the Cheltenham Gold Cup. But the most famous and prestigious horse race in the world is The Grand National attracting millions of viewers worldwide. The bravery and dedication of the jockeys is undisputed; the athleticism, courage and beauty of these noble animals is undeniable; the sheer drama of the race is palpable. Mon Mome and Liam Treadwell, winners of the 2009 Grand National, jumping The Chair. National Hunt racing is all about the sport, the challenge, the danger, the relationship between jockey, horse and trainer. We look forward to welcoming you to the world of National Hunt Racing.

  • Cheltenham Gold Cup Guide – Latest Race Card, Odds and Tips
Cheltenham Gold Cup Guide – Latest Race Card, Odds and Tips Cheltenham Festival Predictions for 2019 Cheltenham Festival is one of the most highly anticipated horse racing events of the year and has been a go-to jump racing event since it started in 1815. It attracts thousands of spectators over the course of the four days and there is a rich lineage of top-class horses which run. These are some predictions to keep in mind when attending in 2019. When predicting for yourself take a look at this guide for the Cheltenham festival. Supreme Novices Hurdle This race marks the start of the four-day meeting and has long been an enjoyable race to watch, reserved for four-year-olds and older. Commonly, this race is popular with Irish punters as 10 out of the last 15 winners have made it over from Ireland. But it’s also been a pretty good race for the bookies, as only three favourites have won in the last fifteen years. Top picks for this year are four-year-old Angels Breath and Vision d’Honneur, with Al Dancer and Elixir De Nutz also delivering good odds for anyone looking to take a punt on this race. The Gold Cup The festival’s headline race can have a number of outcomes. The 2018 champion, Native River, a proven contender after also winning both the Welsh Grand National and the hennessy Gold Cup Chase, but another to watch is Might Bite which triumphed with the RSA Chase and the King George VI chase. Presenting Percy is also storming into contention with an impressive win in the RSA Chase in March of last year.
