    Valorile olimpismului - Tabloul Campionilor Olimpici Români. Prof.Iţcou Laura –Lic.Greco-Catolic “Timotei Cipariu”,Bucureşti “Ceea ce este cultura pentru umanitate este Olimpismul pentru sport.” Pierre de Coubertin. Olimpismul este o stare a umanităţii, un mijloc de apropiere între oameni, este o formă de manifestare a culturii universale. Părintele naşterii olimpismului – Baronul Pierre de Coubertin – a prevăzut că această grandioasă manifestare va dăinui principiilor „Cărţii Olimpismului”, care contribuie la perfecţionarea omului, la dezvoltarea relaţiilor sociale. Olimpismul nu este un ansamblu socio-economic, nici ideologie, nici sistem politic sau religie, acesta reprezintă în mod fundamental: -o stare de spirit, o valoare a vieţii, o viziune general-umană; -o instanţă de “nobleţe şi puritate morală”, o şcoală a caracterului; - o întrecere a eului cu sine însuşi; - efortul de a ridica concepţia omului despre onoare şi demnitate la înălţimea entuziasmului fizic; -afirmarea neîncetată a omului. Scopul Olimpismului este de a plasa peste tot sportul în serviciul dezvoltării armonioase a omului, încurajând crearea unei societăţi paşnice, preocupată de păstrarea demnităţii umane. De asemenea, au fost definite valorile fundamentale ale Olimpismului: -dezvoltarea fiinţei umane, echilibrate din punct de vedere fizic, psihic şi spiritual; - stabilirea unei legături între sport, cultură şi educaţie; -stabilirea unui mod de viaţă bazat pe bucuria aflată în efort; -respectarea principiilor etice şi fundamentale universale; -dezvoltarea armonioasă a omului; -crearea unei societăţi pacifiste; -respectul faţă de demnitatea umană; Construirea unei lumi noi mai bune, prin implicarea tinerilor fără nici o discriminare; -înţelegerea reciprocă, în spiritu prieteniei şi fair play-ul. Implementarea valorilor fundamentale ale aolimpismului(excelenţa, prietenia, respectul, echilibrul, toleranţa, spiritul de fair –play şi cel de echipă) pregăteşte omul în formarea pentru a se integra în societate, folosind principiile democraţiei în comportamentul cotidian.
