For Immediate Release August 31, 2012 MELDRUM: Upcoming Album ''LIFER'' Available Now For Review The latest single, 'BLACKENED BLUE' from the multinational hard rock/metal band MELDRUM is available now oniTunes. 'BLACKENED BLUE' is the second single from MELDRUM's long awaited third album LIFER due out this fall via REVERSED RECORDS. The band recently gave fans their first taste of new music since 2007's BLOWIN UP THE MACHINE with the release of the debut single from LIFER, 'A TOAST TO ROMANCE' out now on iTunes. The album was produced by producer/engineer ROB SHALLCROSS (Strapping Young Lad, GWAR, Zimmers Hole, West of Hell) and GENE HOGLAN (Testament, Dethklok, Death, Dark Angel). Check out MELDRUM online here. MICHELLE MELDRUM passed away at the age of 39 in May 2008. LIFER stands as a proud tribute to MICHELLEand her lifetime commitment to creating and performing music. MICHELLE wrote the material for the album with drummer GENE HOGLAN (Testament, Death, Dark Angel, Dethklok), along with new members bassist/guitaristLAURA CHRISTINE (Warface) and vocalist MICHELE MADDEN (Tourette's). MICHELLE'S untimely demise before any of her guitar tracks for LIFER were able to be laid down led the three remaining members to come together in tribute to her, to honor MICHELLE'S vision of the album, with LAURA CHRISTINE playing the majority of the rhythm and bass guitars, as well as all the leads. Partial proceeds from the album will go to MICHELLE'S son Jake Thomas who she left behind when she passed. Eugene "Gene" Victor Hoglan II (born August 31, 1967 in Dallas, Texas) is an American drummer. He is acclaimed for his creativity in drum arrangements, including usage of odd devices for percussion effects and his trademark lengthy double-kick drum rhythms (using what he calls "kick triplets"). His highly technical playing is extremely accurate at very high and challenging tempos, earning him the nicknames "The Atomic Clock" and "Human Drum Machine". He is best known for his works with the bands Devin Townsend, Dark Angel, Death, Dethklok, Strapping Young Lad, Pitch Black Forecast, Testament Fear Factory and has recently released the highly successful "Gene Hoglan-The Atomic Clock" DVD Hoglan got his ﬁrst drum kit when he was 13 and is completely self-taught. He started jamming along to his Kiss and Rush records. In 1984, Hoglan began his music career as a roadie (lights engineer) for the thrash metal band Slayer, where he also played the drums during concert soundchecks. He was also part of the band War God with Michelle Meldrum. At the end of the same year he was asked to join the thrash metal band Dark Angel as the drummer. He penned most of the lyrics for Dark Angel's next three albums. He achieved greater fame during the mid-1990s playing with Death, at the same time that bandleader Chuck Schuldiner was taking that group into a more progressive style. Subsequently, he recorded one album with the thrash metal band Testament, and made the acquaintance of Canadian multi-instrumentalist Devin Townsend, forging a lasting friendship.
