THOMAS D. WALKER

Mr. Thomas D. Walker is the Director, Financial Management, Headquarters . He leads a 5-person directorate with responsibility for the financial management of the headquarters staff as well as 5 training wings, 2 independent groups and 79 operating locations worldwide. Second Air Force is responsible for the development, oversight and direction of all operational aspects of basic military training, initial skills training and advanced technical training for the Air Force enlisted force, non-rated operations and support officers. The $220 million portfolio produces over 2,700 courses spanning more than 265 Air Force Specialties and graduates 150,000 Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and international students annually.

Mr. Walker enlisted in the Air Force in 1988 as an F-15 Avionics System Specialist. He re-trained into the Financial Management Career Field in 1997. While on active duty, he served in numerous leadership positions as a Flight Chief, First Sergeant and Squadron Superintendent. In addition he deployed nine times supporting various contingency operations around the world. Mr. Walker retired from active duty in 2011 and began his civil service career shortly thereafter. In addition to his current role, he has served in numerous financial management roles at the wing level to include budget analyst, deputy budget officer, budget officer, Deputy Comptroller and ultimately as a Wing Comptroller.
