Setting a Higher Standard A fundamental measure of our society and our faith is how we care for and stand with the poor and vulnerable. Poor does not only refer to financial, but for many it may be poor in health, faith, hope or in spirit. As a faith-based organization, we at St. Augustine know that we must follow a higher standard — treating each individual with love and compassion — doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do — beyond regulations, beyond the bottom line, beyond receiving recognition. When we serve as God calls us to serve all else falls into place. We are blessed with a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and donors who in addition to offering the highest quality of care, are sensitive to the material, psychological and spiritual needs of others and are willing to make sacrifices to help meet those needs. In addition to taking an active role as advocates for the chronically ill and elderly, they are committed to innovative approaches which bring life and hope to others and they humbly and quietly give their time, talent and treasure — all working together to make everyday miracles happen.
