3. Format

During the “VW e-Fun Cup powered by Hankook 2021”, two different types of formats will be in use.

A) Road Atlanta / Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

For the first (Road Atlanta) and the fourth (Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) event, the format is as follows: a 45-minute pre-qualifying session will determine the starting order for the Super Pole session. The slowest driver in pre-qualifying will leave first, while the fastest driver in pre-qualifying starts last. Drivers without lap time in pre- qualifying will leave the pitlane before every other driver.

Each driver has one timed lap and it is forbidden, at any time (actually during all official sessions and races), to “teleport” its car back to the pitlane. The race direction will communicate to each driver on Discord (see chapter 5) when he can leave the pitlane. Drivers not respecting the procedure or impeding an opponent during his qualifying lap, will receive a penalty from the race direction for the following race.

After Super Pole, a 60-minute race with one mandatory pitstop will take place. Adding fuel is mandatory, as one full fuel tank is not sufficient for the race duration. Changing tyres is forbidden. The pitstop window opens at 40’00” from the end and closes at 20’00” from the end. It is mandatory to have crossed the pit entry at that moment (20’00” from the end). Drivers not respecting the pit window will receive a one lap penalty.

Braking before entering the pitlane is not necessary, as the car brakes automatically while entering the pitlane.

The race will be preceded by a formation lap and uses a “rolling” start. More information about the procedure will be available in the race briefing document on Discord. The polesitter has to be available before the start to listen to instructions from the race direction about the procedure.

B) Sydney Motorsport Park / Circuit Zandvoort / Circuit de l’Anneau du Rhin / Circuit Zolder

During the second (Sydney Motorsport Park), third (Circuit Zandvoort), fifth (Circuit de l’Anneau du Rhin) and sixth (Circuit Zolder) event, the format is as follows: a 45-minute free practice session with no influence on qualifying and/or the races will kick off the event. A 20-minute qualifying session will determine the starting grid for the first race.

Afterwards, two 40-minute races will be contested. For the second race, the top 8 of the result of the first race will start in reversed order.

The race will be preceded by a formation lap and uses a “rolling” start. More information about the procedure will be available in the race briefing document on Discord. The

polesitter has to be available before the start to listen to instructions from the race direction about the procedure.

The timing schedule for the races will be communicated on the Discord channel of the “VW e-Fun Cup powered by Hankook 2021”.
