- Goaltender Semyon Varlamov recorded 27 saves on January 18 vs. BOS to become the first goaltender in Islanders history to record a shutout in each of his first two appearances of a season and just the 14th goaltender in NHL history to do so.

- Varlamov's season-opening shutout streak of 142:10 was the 8th longest scoreless streak to start a season in NHL history. He had previously broken Rick DiPietro's club record scoreless streak to start the season (115:35, 2003-04).

- Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Mathew Barzal and Ryan Pulock are four Islanders who have active consecutive game streaks of at least 200 games (Lee 277, Nelson 254, Barzal 241, Pulock 204). - Josh Bailey is in his 13th season in the NHL, making him the longest tenured Islander on the roster.

In his first two seasons, Trotz led the franchise to a combined regular season record of 83-50-17 and a combined playoff record of 17-13.
