The School has developed rapidly, nowhere more so than on the rugby field. We believe that rugby provides outstanding lessons for life – reliance on team mates, self- discipline, healthy and challenging exercise and respect for others. Sevens has gained in popularity and we are thrilled to welcome boys, visiting coaches, members of staff and families to the Millfield Sevens Tournament. We hope the day proves challenging and exciting and that all players and supporters leave knowing that the friendships developed during the day will be reignited in the years to come. Craig Considine Headmaster Welcome to the Millfield Rugby Sevens 2013 It is a real pleasure to be hosting the Millfield Sevens again this year and I hope that you have a challenging and rewarding day. It is events such as this which can inspire and motivate young children to pursue their talents. Gareth Edwards, Olly Morgan, Matt Perry and John Brake and many other Old Millfieldians would have started their careers here on these very pitches. This year continue to be proud of Chris Robshaw who has recently been named England Captain. Chris joined Millfield Prep School in 1996 and "he was totally dedicated to his rugby whether it was in training or in our matches. He always led by example and gave nothing less than 100% effort" said Dave Hill, Head of Rugby”. We are all delighted for Chris and we look forward to welcoming him back to the school in the near future. I hope that today we will see some of the stars of the future showing off their skills and aptitude for the sport. I am sure that all the teams involved will enjoy the day and that there will be a good sporting spirit for all the players both on and off the pitch and that determination and skill will be exhibited by the players. The squad, RFU Chairman Bill Beaumont and CEO Ian Ritchie and management staff from the women’s game were welcomed and congratulated by Prime Minister David Cameron and given a tour of his official residence and office. It was a unique opportunity to reflect on a memorable tournament for the team who lifted the trophy for the first time in 20 years after reaching the three previous finals. RFU Chief Executive Ian Ritchie said: “This is a great moment for women’s rugby in England and the attention and accolades they are receiving are well deserved.
