BHM has been celebrated widely around the world since the 1920’s, with the United Kingdom starting their own celebrations in 1987. In Bristol, the month of October is about bringing together the many different ethnicities that make up this multicultural city, and a chance to celebrate Contents their contributions to society together, no matter where you live in the city. Every year we use this opportunity to promote knowledge and 4 Theatre understanding of Black History as well as circulating positive information and light on such a diverse community. BHM has also helped to raise awareness 5 Music of Black people and the significance of their cultural heritage, all helping to shape a modern, inclusive multicultural Bristol. 6 Exhibitions, Talks This year we have tried to include more information on the accessibility and Workshops of event locations for people with disabilities.
