She brings a ‘campfire set’ to the states this May, with Paddy Casey opening all shows The wait for American fans of the Scottish-born singer-songwriter KT Tunstall to perform stateside is finally over as the multi-platinum artist launches her first full U.S. tour in support of her latest album Drastic Fantastic this spring. Opening the shows will be singer-songwriter Paddy Casey. The tour will be a close up personal affair, with Tunstall on acoustic guitar duties while the rest of the band perform various other unplugged acoustic instruments, such as double bass, harmonium, and mandolin. It will well suit the warm, rootsy tone of Tunstall’s songs, taken from Drastic Fantastic, her Acoustic Extravaganza record, and her best-selling 2006 debut Eye to the Telescope. In der folgenden Dekade kamen mit „Drastic Fantastic“, „Tiger Suit“ und „Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon“ drei weitere Erfolgsplatten dazu. Etliche Welttourneen zementierten ihren Ruf als begnadete Live-Künstlerin. Sie wurde für den Grammy für die Best Female Pop Vocal Performance nominiert, ihre Songs veredelten etliche Soundtracks – nicht zuletzt ist die Eröffnungsszene von „Der Teufel trägt Prada“ mit der ikonischen Meryl Streep in Erinnerung geblieben, unterlegt mit „Suddenly I See“. Doch dann hat es sie getroffen: Ihr Vater starb, sie ließ sich scheiden und zog nach Venice Beach. Eine Zeit folgte, in der KT Tunstall viel Gelegenheit zum Nachdenken hatte und sich entschloss erst einmal Pause zu machen. 2016 dann der Befreiungsschlag: „KIN“ erschien, die Phoenix-aus-der-Asche-Platte, der „spirit“ und erste Teil einer geplanten Trilogie. Deren zweiter Streich „Wax“ wurde nun veröffentlicht und bildet den „body“ des dreiteiligen Werks. Es ist wie eine kreative Wiedergeburt für die Schottin. Nach ihrer Ankunft in Kalifornien wurde sie als eine von sechs Fellows am Sundance Film Institute’s Composers Lab angenommen und schrieb Musik für Kurz- und Dokumentarfilme, gewann den Music Week's Women In Music Award und durfte bei der traditionell schottisch geprägten New York Tartan Week Parade den Umzug über die 6th Avenue als Grand Marshal anführen.
