The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford is next month hosting an event designed to encourage youngsters to consider future careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The Big Bang is the UK’s largest science and engineering event for young people aged between seven and nineteen. The show offers visiting students the opportunity to experience hands-on learning outside the classroom in a fun, interactive and innova- tive way. This study identified a gap in the area of research concerned with branded music marketing, particularly in regards to the use of imagery when marketing music. From the research findings, it is clear that the theories and strategies can be combined to create strategic advantage in the development of a musical brand identity. This study concludes that imagery and symbolism, consumer relationship and co-creation, and consistent brand messaging are the most effective marketing strategies employed by Brisbane independent musicians.     Judith Everard March 2017 EDUCATION, c.1600–2000 Introduction The Royal Free Grammar School was founded in 1552 by and for the benefit of the townspeople and under its original statutes was to offer free places to the sons of burgesses. This obligation, long redundant due to the lapse of burgess status, was abolished in 1868, with most pupils historically coming from outside the borough.1 Small numbers of those admitted as freemen of the borough in this period were designated ‘schoolmaster’. The frankpledge list for 1668 contains two schoolmasters, and those for 1709 and 1731 name four each (from 1650 to 1775, no more than one ‘schoolmaster’ was admitted in each 25- year period).2 In 1690, Edward Griffiths, churchwarden of St Alkmund, was cited before the bishop’s court ‘for teaching school without license’.3 In fact, as befitted the county town, Shrewsbury had a whole range of schools and educational provision before the 17th century, most of it informal and hard to trace in the records; the first systematic census dates from 1817.4 But there was a developing range of endowed schools which offered education to the sons and daughters of townspeople. This chapter commences with a brief account of the private educational provision from the 17th century before returning to the education of ‘the poor’ and the population at large. Private Schools By the late 17th century there was at least one well regarded private school for girls: a finishing school run by Esther Chambre and Barbery Saxfield ‘in the more fashionable part of Castle Ward near St Mary’s Church’.

My Uncle (Tim Thomas) took to me the game, Tim has supported Shrewsbury Town for over a period of 65 years and is still keen as ever. This was my third visit to the Montgomery Waters Meadow, home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club. My first visit came on 5th April 2016 where I watched the Shropshire Senior Cup Final between Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford United. The match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Shrewsbury winning the penalty shootout 3-2 to lift the trophy. My second visit came on 2nd May 2017 where I watched the Shropshire Premier Cup Final between Shawbury United and Market Drayton Town, the winners that day were Market Drayton by one goal to nil. My nephew Jimmy joined me for the game, this was his second taste of groundhopping within a month after he came with me to watch Carno 0-3 Caersws on 29th December 2018. I also attended the game with my father-in-law Dave and two brother-in-law’s Damian and Jamie, Damian’s son (my nephew) Billy also came to watch.

BUNNAGAR. — The funeral of Mr. George Bunnagar, formerly of Jackfield, whose death was recorded in last weeks issue, took place on Sunday at Broseley cemetery. Mr. W. Clare (Clive) conducted service in the cemetery chapel. The bearers were Messrs. G. B. Headley, W. Storey, T. Smallman, J. Morgan and A. Colley, old neighbours. The family mourners included Messrs. John, Arthur and Fred Bunnagar (sons), George Bunnagar (Jackfield), J. Birbeck (Madeley), and C. J. Gar- bett, Jackfield (grandsons), Messrs. Jack Williams (Madeley Wood), Fred and Noah Williams (Brose- ley), and Stan. Bunnagar, Broseley (nephews). Among the many who attended the service were Ald. and Mrs. J. Nicklin, Mr. and Mrs. F. Preston, Mr. Arthur Harrington (Tunstall), Mr. Albert Harrington (Madeley), Mr. J. Birbeck and Mr W. Yorke (Madeley), Mr. E. W. J. Ball (Jackfield), and Messrs. G. Roden, R and. C. Rowe, A. Harris,, H. Evans, W. Roberts, H. Evans (former fellow-workmen), and members’ of the Oddfellows friendly society, whose oration was read at the graveside by Mr. W. Clare.     9 Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Authority Human Resources Committee 27 May 2010 Shropshire Partnership Equalities Forum – Progress during 2009/10 Report of the Chief Fire Officer For further information about this report please contact Paul Raymond, Chief Fire Officer, on 01743 260201 or Jonathan Hyams, Equality and Diversity Officer, on 01743 260236. 1 Purpose of Report This report informs the Human Resources Committee of the progress on the Shropshire Equality and Diversity Forum, as requested by the Fire Authority. 2 Recommendations The Committee is asked to note the content of this report. 3 Background In 2004, following the demise of Telford & Shropshire Race Equality Council, Shropshire Partnership commissioned Sushel Ohri Associates to produce a report entitled ‘Step Change for Diversity Equality in Shropshire’. The report highlighted a growing recognition that diversity and equality was a growing national, regional and local issue, and made a number of recommendations including the formation of a Shropshire Equality Forum. The Forum had its first meeting in March 2005. The Forum has been meeting and working across Shropshire since then, and has a number of important achievements in progressing the equality and diversity agenda in Shropshire. In February 2006 the Fire Authority authorised a one-off grant to the Forum of £5,000 for the 2006/07 financial year. There have been no subsequent requests for further funding. SFRS have been involved as members of the Forum since its inception and attend and support many of the additional
