Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 37–52, 2021, Zagreb. From 2016 to 2020 numerous surveys were undertaken to improve the knowledge of the pyraloid moth fauna of Biokovo Nature Park. On August 27th, 2020 one specimen of Psorosa mediterranella (Amsel, 1954) from the family Pyralidae was collected on a small meadow (985 m a.s.l.) on Mt Biok- ovo. In this paper, the first data about the occurrence of this species in Croatia are presented. The previ- ous mention in the literature for Croatia was considered to be a misidentification of the past and has thus not been included in the checklist of Croatian pyraloid moth species. P. mediterranella was recorded for the first time in Croatia in recent investigations and, after other additions to the checklist have been counted, is the 396th species in the Croatian pyraloid moth fauna. An overview of the overall pyraloid moth fauna of Croatia is given in the updated species list. Abstract. Stigmella tatrica sp. n. is described from moths taken in the alpine zone of the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. The new species is similar to several other montane species of Stigmella Schrank, 1802 in the S. aurella (Fabricius, 1775) group in external characters and male genitalia; its closest relative is S. dryadella (O. Hofmann, 1868). It is indistinguishable from S. tormentillella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1860) by the colour and pattern elements of the forewing; however, it differs in the male genitalia in the shape and number of cornuti, in the female genitalia by long apophyses with protruding ovipositor, and by COI barcodes. -

Sanchiz (*) RESUMEN Durante el periodo 1978-1994 se han descrito cerca de 2.000 especies animales nue- vas para la ciencia en territorio ibérico-balear. Se presenta como apéndice un listado completo de las especies (1978-1993), ordenadas taxonómicamente, así como de sus referencias bibliográficas. Como tendencias generales en este proceso de inventario de la biodiversidad se aprecia un incremento moderado y sostenido en el número de taxones descritos, junto a una cada vez mayor contribución de los autores españoles. Es cada vez mayor el número de especies publicadas en revistas que aparecen en el Science Citation Index, así como el uso del idioma inglés. La mayoría de los phyla, clases u órdenes mues- tran gran variación en la cantidad de especies descritas cada año, dado el pequeño núme- ro absoluto de publicaciones. Los insectos son claramente el colectivo más estudiado, pero se aprecia una disminución en su importancia relativa, asociada al incremento de estudios en grupos poco conocidos como los nematodos. Appendix S4 . The tentorium and its external landmarks in the Chalcididae This study is the first in the whole superfamily Chalcidoidea to investigate the tentorium as a phylogenetic character and to establish the connection between the inner skeleton of the cephalic capsule and its external landmarks on the back of the head. In this section, details are provided on the methodology used by GD to examine and code the different bridges. S4.1. Context Phylogenetic informativeness of the characters of the head capsule in Hymenoptera was recently highlighted (Vilhelmsen 2011; Burks & Heraty 2015; Zimmermann & Vilhelmsen 2016). However, interpretation is difficult and requires landmarks (Burks & Heraty, 2015). More precisely, the identity of the sclerotized structures between the occipital foramen and the oral fossa are still debated. Homology and nomenclature of these structures were established by Snodgrass (1928, 1942 and 1960) and reassessed by Vilhelmsen (1999) and Burks & Heraty (2015). These authors describe various types of ‘bridges’, such as postgenal, hypostomal and subforaminal bridges, according to the cephalic part – postgena or hypostoma – from which they putatively originate. In his phylogenetic analyses of the Chalcididae, Wijesekara (1997a & 1997b) used the back of the head – reduced to a single character – and distinguished an ‘hypostomal bridge’ and a ‘genal bridge’. The detailed examination of the back of the head in the Eurytomidae (Lotfalizadeh et al. 2007), probable sister group of the Chalcididae, provided useful characters for their phylogeny and prompted GD to also investigate these characters in the Chalcididae. Chalcididae exhibit variable and puzzling structures that may be phylogenetically informative but request a thorough identification of homologies among the subfamilies and more largely with other families of Chalcidoidea. -

Gelegentlich seiner Abhandlung über das Riech Or- gan der Biene (s. oben 1876 p. 322 (114)) giebt Wolff p. 69 ff. eine sehr eingehende Darstellung der Mundwerk- zeuge der Hymenopteren, ihrer Muskeln u. s. w. Eine ver- ständliche Reproduction ohne Abbildung ist nicht möglich und muss daher hier unterbleiben; nur in Betreff des Saug- werkes der Biene lässt sich das Resultat der Untersuchung kurz angeben. Die Zunge ist nicht, wie vielfach behauptet worden ist, hohl, sondern an ihrer Unterseite nur bis zur Mitte ihrer Länge rinnig ausgehöhlt und von den erweiterten Rändern mantelartig umfasst. In dieser Rinne kann Flüssig- keit durch die blosse Capillarität in die Höhe steigen bis zu einer Stelle („Geschmackshöhle'O, die reichlich mit Nerven ausgestattet ist, die wahrscheinlich der Geschmacks- empfindung dienen. Zum Saugen stellen sich aber die verschiedenen Mundtheile (namentlich Unterlippe, Unter- kiefer mit ihren Tastern und Oberlippe mit Gaumensegel) zur Bildung eines Saug r obres zusammen, mit welchem die Flüssigkeiten durch die Bewegungen des Schlundes in diesen und weiter in den Magen befördert werden.
