Yeshiva Shaarei Tzion

Yeshiva Shaarei Tzion (YST) is a major institution of Jewish education recognized for providing the highest level of excellence in both academic and religious education. Located in the larger Highland Park/Edison community, YST ensures that children from this community, as well as those from the neighboring communities of East Brunswick, North Plainfield, Carteret, East Windsor, Marlboro and Morganville, no longer have to commute to Brooklyn, Staten Island, or to other locations, in order to receive this blend of superior religious and secular education.

Beginning in 1991 as a nursery school program with less than 20 students, YST has grown into a three-facility system, one for children of nursery and pre-kindergarten age, and separate facilities for boys and girls in grades kindergarten (Pre 1A) through eight. Employing over 90 teachers, YST serves a growing student body that by September of 2016 is expected to be some 450 students, and reflects the popularity and excellence of the Yeshiva.

At YST, our mission is to help each and every student recognize and reach his/her own unique potential, socially, academically, ethically and spiritually, so that he or she may thrive as an individual and make a positive contribution to society. Towards that end, the Yeshiva provides both mainstreaming and individual remediation programs; hires teachers and consultants trained in both recognized graduate schools and higher level religious institutions; underwrites and promotes continued professional development in cutting-edge educational methods; retains educational consultants on an ongoing basis to ensure that curriculums are updated as needed to reflect current best practices; and works hand-in-hand with the professionals to create customized programming based on cutting edge practices. We are constantly amazed by the successful balance she strikes,” Debbie says.
