AWe noticed he was off his feed and took his temperature yesterday afternoon. It was slightly elevated,@ trainer Brad Cox said. AIt=s just really bad timing being this close to the Derby. We drew blood on him [Sunday] morning and his white cell counts were a little high. We just can=t run him on Saturday with being a little off his game.@ The defection of the GI Arkansas Derby runner-up will allow GII Remsen S. winner Brooklyn Strong (Wicked Strong) to enter the Derby field. The Mark Schwartz colorbearer, most recently fifth in the Apr. 3 GII Wood Memorial, is scheduled to work at Parx Monday morning for trainer Daniel Velazquez and could ship into Churchill Downs Tuesday morning if all goes well. STALLION SYNOPSIS FOR: NOT THIS TIME PREPARED BY: ALAN PORTER PREPARED FOR: TAYLOR MADE STALLIONS INC Pedigree Consultants are able to help you in all facets of your thoroughbred investment. Not only are we able to proven mating advice but we are also able to advise on mare selection, management and promotion of stallions, and selection and purchase of racing and breeding stock. For more information on the services visit www.pedigreeconsultants.com, email [email protected] or call +1 859 285 0431. NOT THIS TIME The most brilliant two-year-old son of sire of sires, Giant’s Causeway, Not This Time was also arguably the fastest and most spectacular two-year-old of his crop. In addition to being by Storm Cat’s leading sire son, he is out of record-breaking graded and multiple stakes winning Miss Macy Sue – also dam of brilliant Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. I) victor Liam’s Map – and descends from Ta Wee, a two-time Champion Sprinter who is half-sister to the legendary Dr. Fager. Giant’s Causeway has demonstrated an affinity for the Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector, and Fappiano is particularly interesting here, as he is out of a mare by Dr. Fager, which should work extremely well with remarkable strong Tartan Farm/Genter heritage in the dam of Not This Time (which includes inbreeding to Dr. Fager’s brilliant half-sister, Ta Wee). We can note that Unbridled’s Song – a grandson of Fappiano – is the sire of Not This Time’s brilliant half-brother Liam’s Map.

Leam- ington accomplished a lot in that single year — com- mencing a stallion narrative that continues more than a century Ilater for William Stamps Farish III, founder of Lane’s End. The land was called Bosque Bonita when Confederate Brigadier General Abraham Buford returned home from the Civil War. Buford had greater success with Leamington than he did fighting to save Paducah, Kentucky, from falling to the United States. Buford, a sharp horseman who had built his own racetrack on Bosque Bo- nita, saw opportunity in Leamington. The horse had failed at stud in England, but this was Ken- tucky, ruined economically in the war. Few stal- lions remained after outlaws and armies from both sides had emptied nearly every horse barn in the state. Buford offered a stall to Leamington (he did not own him) and sent word to anyone who had managed to hang on to at least some mares. Leamington got down to work. In that one year he sired the inaugural Kentucky Derby winner, Aristides. He also sired that pride of Kentucky and most popular racehorse of the 1870s, Long- Founded by Will Farish, right, Lane’s End continues to thrive in the second generation, with Bill Farish, left, serving as second in command.

A BETTER MOUSETRAP My idea is to give first priority for Derby eligibility (Tier One) to the winner of the previous year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile plus the top three finishers in the big five preps: Florida Derby, Santa Anita Derby, Blue Grass, Arkansas Derby and Wood Memorial.
