The theme of this Forum is “Environment, Life Style & Genetic/Epigenetic Factors and Men's Health”, endeavoring to explore the profundity and diversity of the contributing factors to men's health. The Scientific Committee, under the guidance of the Advisory Committee, designed a comprehensive scientific programme concentrating on one vital issue and embracing a large range of important aspects including: 1 Men's Health: Global and Regional Perspectives 2 Sperm Biology and Fertilization 3 Male Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology 4 Male Sexual Dysfunction 5 Male Ageing, Androgen Deficiency and Therapy 6 Prostate Diseases and Prevention, Diagnosis & Treatment of Prostate Cancer 7 Environment Hazards to Men's Health 8 Prevention of Life-threatening STDs/HIV Infections 9 Prevention of Overpopulation and Male Contraception 10 Alternative/Traditional Medicine and Andrology With an aim of bridging the communication between the lab and the clinic, we deeply believe that the Forum deserves the attention from not only basic scientists but also clinicians in the field of andrology. Besides the traditional plenary lectures and symposia we have innovatively introduced in the programme "Panel Discussion on Holistic Concept on Men's Health, Health Determinants and Health Promotion" and "Public Consultation" sessions. "Panel Discussion" session allows an all-dimensional discussion among scientists, clinic doctors, public, media, and policy makers. "Public Consultation" session brings doctors out of the clinics to the public hall and allows the public to touch more knowledge on men's health in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. In its Tenth Anniversary Celebration, AJA will express a great deal of gratitude to people who support and contribute to its development in various ways, and will review the past, summarize the present and shape the future. In addition, there are several satellite workshops with topics on male infertility, erectile dysfunction, prostate disease, andrology in ARTs, LOH, etc. A specific session for WHO standard semen analysis manual (5th edition) will also be organized during the Forum. We look forward to welcoming you to the 3APFA, Nanjing, China, which no doubt will be a memorable occasion for fruitful interchanges of ideas and the development of long-lasting friendship in the coming years.

Eva Ströber1 LITERATI AND LITERARY THEMES ON PORCELAIN From the collection Keramiekmuseum Princessehof Leeuwarden The Confucian ideal of a successful career in society was the passing of the PORCELAIN traditional civil service examinations to become an official. However, only a small proportion of the ‘scholar-officials’ actually became integrated into the imperial administrative system that ran the country. The majority of these learned gentlemen, the literati, wenren (men of letters), had to stay in the ON villages or towns of their families, helping with minor social work and education, and spent a life committed to cultured leisure, the Tour Arts of the Literati’: writing and calligraphy, painting, playing the guqin (zither), and weiqi, a kind of chess. Over the centuries these intellectuals contributed substantially to social, intellectual and artistic life in China, and the role they played in Chinese cultural history cannot be overestimated. They represented the ideal of the THEMES cultured gentleman. The literati ideal also became the ideal for disillusioned Confucian officials looking for an escape from their intensely bureaucratie and hierarchically organized life. They dreamed of a life of freedom and reclusivity, close to nature; they longed for a balance of intellect and senses, of meaningful interaction with nature and like-minded companions, a life envisioned by painters and poets. These concepts were formed to a great extent by the influence of Daoism. In most cases turning to the ideals of the literati did not mean turning to an alternative lifestyle. Most literati looked for inspiration not to wild nature but LITERARY to smaller-scale, indoor alternatives.

  • Types of Yunnan Theme in Mainland Chinese Literature Documents in the Pre-Tang Dynasty
2019 International Conference on Education, Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (ICEEHSS 2019) Types of Yunnan Theme in Mainland Chinese Literature Documents in the Pre-Tang Dynasty Xu Juan The College of Arts and Sciences Yunnan Normal University, Yunnan, China, 650061 Keywords: Pre-Tang Dynasty; Mainland Chinese literature; Yunnan theme; Type Abstract: The Yunnan theme is the literary classics of the Central Plains, which concerns the humanities and geography of Yunnan. The Yunnan theme constitutes the common memory of history and literature, which divides the period of Pre-Tang Dynasty. Although it is a feather of Jiguang film, it is precious. The Yunnan theme in mainland Chinese literature documents is a medium for understanding Yunnan people, reflecting the new literary aesthetic care. 1. Introduction For the first time, Daoguang Tongzhi Yiwenzhi of Yunnan has clearly divided Yunnan literature into two parts, including the book written by Yunnan people and the book recorded Yunnan events. This kind of work not only highlights the regionalism, but also is not a pure concept of regionalism. Yunnan theme is a kind of frontier theme, which shows its own uniqueness and regionality. Yunnan is rich in natural resources, cultural heritage, natural environment and geographical features. These are fascinating and imaginative. Mainland Chinese literature documents in the pre-tang dynasty contained various Yunnan theme, which involved the politics, economy, military, transportation, culture, figures, deeds, geography and scenery. Here, the mainland Chinese literature is integrated into four categories, including historical events, people's deeds, geographical museums, myths and legends. 2. Historical Events Historical events are an important theme in describing Yunnan's deeds.

Copyright by Jeffrey Nides Loeb 2014 The Report Committee for Jeffrey Nides Loeb Certifies that this is the approved version of the following report: Hunting Tigers and Swatting Flies: Xi Jinping’s Anti-Corruption Campaign APPROVED BY SUPERVISING COMMITTEE: Supervisor: Xiaobo Lü Patricia Maclachlan Hunting Tigers and Swatting Flies: Xi Jinping’s Anti-Corruption Campaign by Jeffrey Nides Loeb, B.A. Report Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Arts The University of Texas at Austin December 2014 To the memory of my Mother Abstract Hunting Tigers and Swatting Flies: Xi Jinping’s Anti-Corruption Campaign Jeffrey Nides Loeb, M.A. The University of Texas at Austin, 2014 Supervisor: Xiaobo Lü Why has Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, launched one of the most aggressive anti-corruption campaigns in the history of the country? To answer this question, I constructed a database of over 100 high-level officials who have come under investigation during the campaign. I find that the campaign is disproportionately targeting officials from certain provinces. To understand why, I test a hypothesis that states: Xi is targeting corrupt officials from specific geographical regions for reasons unrelated to combating pervasive corruption, indicating factional politics are driving at least a part of the campaign. I find mixed support for the hypothesis. Out of the four provinces tested against the hypothesis, Sichuan is the only one that Xi appears to be targeting under the guise of anti-corruption.
