This Equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. This manual is to help you familiarize with the setup and operation the Digital Satellite Integrated Receiver and Decoder (IRD). Please read through this manual before operating the unit and keep this manual handy for future reference.

There are no user serviceable parts inside the unit. To ensure your safety and avoid damaging the unit, DO NOT remove any cover or attempt to access inside of the unit. Doing so may also void your product warranty. Please refer all servicing to qualified personnel. CAUTION A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT OPEN

1. NAMES OF PARTS

2. SET UP

2.1 DISH AND LNB

• Before setting up the IRD, you need to install your and LNB following the installation instruction and point the dish to the satellite that you will be receiving the programming from. • The IRD will not be able to tune in and decode the incoming signal unless the dish and LNB are properly installed.

• If you are not sure if the dish and LNB have been set up correctly, please consult your dealer

or professional installer for further information.

2.2 IRD CONNECTIONS

• Connect the from LNB to “SATELLITE IN” on the rear panel.

• Connect audio/video RCA cables (or S-Video Cable) between the IRD and your TV/Monitor.

• Plug the power cord to “POWER” and a grounded outlet.

• Refer to REAR PANEL (CONNECTIONS) on page 3 for reference.

2.3 TRANSPONDER RECORD SETUP

• Turn on the TV and the IRD. After a few seconds have past you will see the message

“Searching for Programs.. .“ on the screen. If your IRD has been pre-configured and the previous two steps have been set up correctly, you should be able to see the programs playing on the screen. • If your IRD has not been configured yet, you need to follow the procedures described in 4.2.1 Channel Parameters (Transponder) Set Up on page 8 to set up the IRD according to the channels that you will be viewing.

3.1 FRONT PANEL AND REMOTE CONTROL

• POWER key: Turn on or turn off IRD power. The STANDBY LED will light when the power is turned on. Please use the POWER key to turn the unit off when you are not watching the program. [CAUTION: Do not unplug the power cord since the program may be upgrading the system while you are not watching the program. Unplugging the unit from an outlet will prevent the unit from being upgraded when necessary]. • CHANNEL arrow Channel up, channel down; When in set up menu, these two keys will move the selection up or down. • VOLUME Arrow Volume up, volume down. When in menu mode, these two keys will move the selection left or right. They can also be used to enter numeric value and making selection when entering data. • MUTE key: Pause and resume the audio output. • SELECT (OK) key: Execute the selected command when in menu mode. • INFO key: Press this key to display the information and signal strength/quality of the program that is being tuned now.

The “Signal Level” bar shows the strength of the tuned signal. The “Signal Quality” bar shows the quality of the tuned signal. Above the “Signal Level” bar, the “0408” indicates the program number, and “IS” indicates the current audio model (First audio Stereo.) The “L2” indicates FCL2 (Favorite Channel List 2). In the mean time, the LED display on the front panel will also show “0081” to indicate the signal level. Usually, a signal is considered as poor when its signal level is less than 30.

• MENU/ESC key: Enter/Exit the main menu.

3.2 REMOTE CONTROL

• AUDIO key: This function allows you to select the audio output from one of the options listed in the table below. You can select from the first audio program (Audio lx) or the second audio program (Audio 2x, usually second language.) You can also select Stereo, Left Only, or Right Only from either of the audio program. You can use ▲/▼until the desired setup is highlighted and the SELECT key to activate. • EPG key: Press this key to enter the EPG menu and select the desired program from the menu. • EXIT key: When in MENU, you can press this key to exit to last display. • DELETE key: Delete the set parameter. • ERASE key: Erase the numeric digit before the cursor. • PREV key: When in the EPG menu, you can press this key to display the program content on the previous page (10 records). • NEXT key: When in the EPG menu, you can press this key to display the program content on the next page (10 records). When not in the EPG menu, this key is used to cycle the video system of the video output: NTSC, PAL, PAL-N, PAL-M, and AUTO. • +1- key: When in SET UP menu (within SYSTEM menu under MAIN MENU), you can use ◄/► to select a channel number, then press this key to disable or enable the channel. [NOTE: When a channel is disabled, you can not watch the programs when CHANNEL ▲/▼ keys are using.] • SCAN key: Scan all channels defined in the SET UP menu and search all the programs within each channel. This may take a few minutes to complete. While the IRD is scanning the programs, the searching channel and program number will be displayed on the LED on the front panel. • TVISAT key: This only applies to units configured with SCART connectors. Use this key to switch between the TV and satellite input. • PAUSE key: Freeze up the screen. Press this key again to resume the video playing. [NOTE: Unlike a VCR, the video program that is being transmitted will be not recorded and resumed playing after exiting from the PAUSE mode. The video program is a continuous stream.] • JUMP key: Return to previous program. • Numeric keys: Use these keys to enter numeric values when entering set up information, such as Down Link Frequency or Password.
