Overview

IBM SurePOS™ ACE V6.2 is a comprehensive (POS) application designed to work with existing IBM POS systems and technologies. Through the open, Web-based architecture of the Store Integration Framework (SIF), coupled with the Store Integrator GUI (SI GUI), users are better able to implement solutions through a common, standards-based store framework into which new functions can be integrated.

Key prerequisites

Refer to the Technical information section for details.

Planned availability date December 14, 2007

Description

IBMSurePOS ACE V6.2 andSurePOS ACE EPS V6.2 include all the functions previously announced in V6.1, as well as the following new functions:

• Support for Flexible Spending Accounts The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has changed the requirements which allow retailers to accept Flexible Spending Account cards in their stores. As of January 1, 2008, retailers must be able to demonstrate that only eligible items are paid for with Flexible Spending Account cards in order to continue accepting these cards as a method of payment for certain purchases. This function is designed to comply with current regulations, but actual compliance is the responsibility of the retailer. • Enhancements to TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance (ECA) TeleCheck function added in V6.1 of ACE EPS provided support for TeleCheck verified checks to be authorized and converted to ACH at

IBM United States Announcement 207-336 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 the POS via the BuyPass and TeleCheck hosts. This enhancement to ACE EPS V6.2 automates the process and avoids the need for the cashier to manually enter the authorization code on the accepted paper check. • Increased count and size of franking formats Franking formats are used for EPS REG-E slips, check franking, miscellaneous document franking, and so on. The number of franking formats is small compared to the number of tenders, and some tenders can use more than one. This line item expands the number of franking formats and the number of lines available to print per format in order to better meet retailers' needs.

Accessibility by people with disabilities A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) containing details on accessibility compliance can be requested at

Client device A client device is a computer system that requests the execution of a set of commands, procedures, or applications from another computer system that is typically referred to as a server. Multiple client devices may access to a common server. A client device generally has some processing capability or is programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to, notebook computers, desktop computers, desk side computers, technical workstations, appliances, personal digital assistants, automated teller machines, point of sale terminals, tills and cash registers, and kiosks. This software license includes Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support.
