The immediate actions do not affect students, but if things do not go the way the faculty desires, serious ramifications may result. There are two possible results: 1) if the faculty, who have reduced their wage demands once already, are not satisfied there is the possibility of a strike or 2) if CUNY wins out it will present a serious threat to any form of faculty power and will in fact give the former a mandate to continue many of the policies, some affecting students, which the faculty is in opposition to. None of us are interested in remaining here an extra semester Editor-in-chief because of a strike; at the same time none of us wish to see the Douglas Kennedy faculty-student relationship destroyed by creating a faculty hostile Managing Editor to its employer.
