M. Steven Levy to Retire as President and Chief Executive Officer of Re US

Marcus Winter Appointed Successor, Effective April 1, 2021

Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. today announced the retirement of M. Steven Levy, its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2021. During his 23-year tenure at US, Levy has held a variety of key leadership positions, including President of the Credit & Surety Division and Chief Financial Officer. He has served as President and CEO of Munich Re US since 2014 and as a member of the Munich Re US P&C Executive Board since 2008. “For over two decades, Steve has played an integral role in shaping numerous aspects of our organization, and we thank him for his many contributions to Munich Re US,” said Anthony J. Kuczinski, Chief Executive Officer, Munich Re US Holding. “Steve tackled the challenges of each of his positions with strength, energy and passion, and maintained an unwavering commitment to our clients and partners.” Levy will be succeeded by Marcus Winter, who will be based in Princeton, New Jersey, and report to Kuczinski. Winter currently serves as Head of Reinsurance Development for Munich Re. Since 2002, he has held several roles with Munich Re, including Head of CU Cross Lines based in Munich, and General Manager, Non-Life, Munich Re, Australia, based in . “With his extensive expertise in reinsurance, underwriting, management and data analytics, Marcus brings a wealth of experience to Munich Re US, and we’re pleased to welcome him to the US P&C team,” said Kuczinski. Winter holds a PhD in Economics from the University of in and an Executive MBA in Financial Services from the University of St. Gallen (), Vlerick School (Belgium) and HEC . He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.
