Splice Introduces Monthly Access Plan for PreSonus’s Professional DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)

“Rent-to-Own” Plan Gives Splice Users Affordable Option for Top-Level Music Production Software

Today, Splice released a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) on a rent-to-own plan - a first for both the company and the industry. Splice will offer PreSonus’s Studio One Professional DAW for $16.99 a month, making a powerful music production tool available to a new audience. Studio One — widely seen as an accessible yet powerful music production software — sells for $400 retail. Splice is offering it for $16.99 a month with a 14 day free trial; after 24 months, the user will own their copy, and they can suspend and restart payments at any time. As always, joining the Splice music production community is free.

Jim Boitnott, Chief Operating Officer of PreSonus, said, “I am very excited about the opportunities with Splice, because PreSonus was founded with the intention of bringing high- quality musical tools to all musicians, and Splice is providing a platform to continue to make that possible.”

“Offering Studio One - a full featured DAW - is a key piece of the creative ecosystem that we have been building for our users here at Splice,” says Steve Martocci, the CEO of Splice. “Now, with access to PreSonus’s Studio One Professional DAW, along with our existing plugins and samples library, musicians can find everything they need to create their music on Splice - whether they're just getting started, or they are a seasoned professional."

Splice began its Rent-to-Own plugin program two years ago when it released Xfer Records’ Serum as its first offering. Today it has a number of plugins on Rent-to-Own plans - from vocal suites like iZotope’s VocalSynth 2 to next-gen effects like Output’s MOVEMENT. Splice’s Rent- to-Own platform is a new way for music software creators to reach a more cost-conscious audience. The commitment is minimal and the reward is real: Splice’s low monthly payments can be paused or canceled at any time, and once a purchaser has made all of their payments, the software is theirs forever.

PreSonus launched the original Studio One in 2009. Since then, the DAW has received praise from musicians across genres for its ease of use, intuitive visual interface, and whole-studio capabilities, from recording and arranging to mixing and .

Splice is offering Studio One 4 Professional, which PreSonus launched in May of 2018. This version boasts a few powerful new features, including a chord detection engine called Chord Track, an improved drum machine, and a new sampler. Additionally, Studio One supports keyboard shortcuts from other DAWs, and saving and loading their projects, too. As part of the partnership between the two companies, Splice has added Studio One to the list of DAWs supported in Splice Studio, Splice’s automatic cloud backup and collaboration desktop app.
