In the 1940s David Gordon Kirkpatrick lived on a remote dairy farm in the Kempsey Hills of NSW. At the age of 10-years this naïve young lad dreamed of becoming a country music singer. His dream materialized, and he became known throughout Australia as Slim Dusty. Vanessa Lee Shirley Slim wrote and sang a multitude of songs that we would typically experience sitting around camp fires and Country Revival at country music musters. His hit song A Pub With No Beer has echoed and resonated throughout many a well stocked bar; and for decades this popular Slim Dusty song has added something special to the happiness of festive celebrations throughout the world.
Slim’s voice has been heard from the stage of small local community venues, large concert halls, on radio and TV and even from outer space when Waltzing Matilda was beamed down from space shuttle "Columbia" as it passed over Australia.
