Natürlich entert die Band auch hierzulande wieder die Clubbühnen. Die Termine werden den Fans die Gelegenheit geben, das neue Material vom mit Spannung erwarteten dritten Album "Himalayan", welches Ende März veröffentlich wird, zu erleben. Kein Geringerer als Produzent Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Arcade Fire , Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) hat bei dem neuen Werk von Band Of Skulls seine Fussspuren hinterlassen. "Himalayan" kombiniert Band Of Skulls-typische rauhe Blues-Riffs, meisterhafte Musikalität und einwandfreie Gesangsharmonien voller roher Kraft und schöner Melodien. Die Lead- Single „Asleep At The Wheel“ gibt bei dieser Platte mit donnernden, primitiven Drum-Beats und seinem schweren rhythmischen Puls eine Ahnung, was den geschätzten Hörer bei diesem Album erwartet: Es ist laut, gefühlvoll und ausgelassen, kurzum ein Werk, das den Platz der Band an der Spitze der Rock-Liga festigen wird. Aber nicht nur im Studio ist die Band im Zenit ihres Könnens. Auch live werden sich Band Of Skulls im kommenden Jahr mit „Himalayan“ an die Spitze der Musikszene und in die Herzen der Hörer rocken. Introduction A FIRST music DJ is a part of the team/crew firstly, and must understand that the event and the games are The Show. The DJ's performance, however, can make or break the event. Hitting the cues, playing the right tunes, and being consistent, brings out a sense of professionalism that will endure the performance to everyone involved. This is a sporting event, not a radio-station, or someone's iPod, or even a club. The focus is much different. The music must be upbeat and positive, may contain interactive elements, and during matches can create tension and suspense. But the bottom line is that at the end of the day "everybody has a good time", including the DJ. This playbook is written with the intent of taking some of the guesswork out of "what to play and when". It is written with much love for this genre that I call Sportsmusic… The Goal Create a playlist of music that will not only be inspiring, motivating, and uplifting but one that will also create a positive atmosphere that promotes gracious professionalism. We will accomplish this by creating files that are edited to give a "tighter" flow to the games. Create a pattern that is easy to follow with limited chance for downtime or "dead-air". The Game Every year the organizers create a different "game" for the robots. But the pattern and process is the same for the DJ. The "M.C." introduces each team in a 3-team alliance, which plays another 3-team alliance. The robots get in place for part 1 of the match: The Autonomous Period, where the robots must compete without any human intervention.

2012-02-29 09:16 CET Band Of Skulls till Debaser Slussen 10/5 När Southamptons Band Of Skulls spelat sin utsålda spelning på London Forum i oktober 2010, var det en prestation som anstår ett band som finslipat sina konserter med två år av konstant turnerande. Bandets riff var tyngre och smutsigare än någonsin. “In our minds, our first album (2009's debutalbum "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey") was quite an intimate little record, but it turned into this huge rock thing in venues across the world.” enligt sångaren Russell Marsden. Sent under 2010, inför arbetet på deras än så länge obetitlade andra album, försvann de till en avlägsen studio på landsbygden Norfolk med bara varandra, sina instrument och rött vin som sällskap. “It was desolate, lonely and bitterly cold. We were on our own in a room playing the same four chords at each other.” berättar Marsden. I februari 2012 släpptes det andra fullängdsalbumet från Band Of Skulls och fick namnet "Sweet Sour". Ett album fylld av nyskapande rock där southern- blues-rock blandas med riff-tung hårdrock och ett nytt, mer strömlinjeformat ljud än bandets bråkiga debut. Lyckligtvis finns fortfarande bandets skitiga gitarrock och raseri kvar, polerad och förpackad som glänsande modern rock n roll tack vare producenten Ian Davenport. Kombinationen av de bitterljuva melodierna, våldsamma trummor och skrikande gitarrer fungerar utmärkt med Marsden och basisten Emma Richardsons röst.
