As we enter a new lockdown can we gently remind you of the following ways you can support the parishes financially, every little helps and if you can we would encourage you to continuing to contribute to the parishes financially, this is much appreciated, especially when for some this is a very uncertain time financially. On our parish website there are various ways that you can contribute as well as being able to put your collection through the letter box, or if in the church there is a box as you come in and one as you leave the church. Clearly all going well we will gradually reopen around Easter. There are lots of complexities in this so we await guidance from the government and the Bishops. It did seem to be suggested that it will not be until mid March that we will get more information, at the next review. We will be ready to open following guidance given, but as I have said previously it is probably best being cautious and patient for all our benefits going forward. Looking at the official figures for our parishes the number of cases is higher this week than they were last week, so we do need to be careful. The reality is when things become less restricted that is when people let their guard down. Sacraments A number of people have asked us about Sacraments, clearly for these we have to follow guidance. At the moment at weddings you are allowed the couple, the Priest and 2 witnesses, the minimum required in law is currently the maximum allowed in law. If anyone is getting married this year we are aware how stressful this is for you, and will accommodate you as best we can, at this current time we will not put any pressure on you to make decisions but we do ask that if you decide to cancel your wedding you let us know. For Baptisms once churches are allowed to reopen around Eastertime these will be allowed with the number restricted to the number allowed for mass and funerals etc. For First Confession, First Communion, and Confirmation meetings will be held with staff of both schools in the coming days, however we will probably need to wait until we have the further advice from the government around the middle of March before we can discuss actual dates. This is because the number allowed in the church will make a difference to how we celebrate these sacraments. For all Sacraments it is also worth reminding you that given the guidance from both the Scottish and UK Governments this week there is going to be no option for gatherings (even in your own home if it involves more than your own household) after the celebration of the Sacraments this side of the School Summer Holidays.
