Almora / Dehradun, 21 November, 2011. Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri said upon his arrival at Dwarahaat on Monday, that significant decisions taken by the Government in the State Cabinet recently have been followed up by their implementation and the issuing of the relevant Government orders. He said that a time bound service delivery framework has been made for the various departments for the convenience of the general public. Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that road construction works should be expedited. He said that any reports or complaint of lackadaisical attitude in the execution of road building works would be dealt with seriously. Cautioning the PWD officials, the Chief Minister said that they should initiate those road constructions work on priority basis for which funds have already been released. Besides, he also sought information regarding other development schemes. Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that the State Government is fully committed to all round development of the State. He said that works related to the new districts would be looked after by the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of the respective old districts. He said that as per the directive from the Election Commission of , the process of constitution of the new districts is not able to take off. The guidelines would be implemented as soon as these are received from the Election Commission, he said. Those who were present on the occasion were senior BJP and UKD leaders including Ajay Bhatt, Chairman of Uttarakhand Disaster Management Advisory Committee , Kashi Singh Aeri and Narayan Singh Jantwal. Besides, District Magistrate DS Garbyal, Superintendent of Police Puran Singh Rawat, CDO SS Pangti, and administrative and police officials, among others, were present on the occasion.

Sitarganj / Dehradun, 21 November, 2011. Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri inaugurated a newly constructed hostel building constructed at a cost of bout Rs. 40 lakh, by the Bara Rana Memorial Committee, at Sitarganj here, on Monday. He announced granting of financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh each to the next of kin of two persons who were killed in a land dispute in Rattanpur Fulaiya village under Khatima Tehsil, on 18 November last, as well as announced that the total cost of treatment of those injured in the incident would be borne by the State Government. In his address delivered on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Khanduri expressed his appreciation for the various social and educational initiatives undertaken by the Bara Rana Memorial Committee in Sitarganj. He said that the hostel would prove beneficial to students coming from remote and far flung areas. Therefore, the Committee should carry on with its efforts in a sustained manner so that more and more people are able to derive benefit from the hostel, he said. Terming the Khatima incident of 18 November as painful, the Chief Minister expressed his sympathy to members of the bereaved families. He told the officials that nobody has the permission to meddle with law and order affairs in the State. On the occasion, he directed the officials to implement stringent action against those who have been found guilty in the incident. On the occasion, the Chief Minister mentioned various measures that have initiated by the Government in the last five years for the development of all sections of the society. He said that under these development measures, 50 percent reservation has been given to women in the panchayats, while Gaura Devi and Nanda Devi Kanyadhan Yojana schemes have been operationalised to bring the girls forward in the field of education. Chief Minister Shri Khanduri said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to provide MBBS education on a nominal fee of Rs. 15,000 to students of poor and backward sections of the society. In addition, loan facility for higher education has been extended to poor students which would be returnable in easy instalments after completing of studies. He said that the Government launched Atal Khadyann Yojana which envisages disbursing of food grains at extremely low prices to the people for providing them the much-needed respite in the face of inflation and soaring prices. He said that the State Government has also given a concession of 45 paisa in per litre of petrol by waiving off the state government tax on the hike carried out in petrol prices by the Centre. President of the Bara Rana Memorial Committee Sripal Rana credited Chief Minister Khanduri for having made available the 3 acre plot of land in the Sidcul Industrial Estate of Sitarganj for social and education use, and praised him for his efforts in supporting a noble cause. He said that the State Government has extended a financial grant of Rs. five lakhs while a part of the contribution has also been made by the people. He assured that the hostel would prove successful in its objectives.
